Fargo - Season 3 Fargo - Season 3

Starts Wednesday. I didn't realize it was coming this early in the year. Gonna be hard for them to top last season, but I do love me some Ewan McGregor.

Is there a direct link to previous seasons?

Trailer felt underwhelming to me.

Season one and two are connected in a couple of ways, so I'd assume the same will be the case for season 3?

Season 3 takes place in 2010, so it's between 1 and 2.

all seasons (+ movie) take place in the same fictional universe. I'd expect a fair number of easter eggs that reference prior stories, at the very least.

Putting this in spolier tags out of an abundance of caution:

Spoiler:
Sepinwall gave a not so glowing review of E1 and E2 - I think he felt it had a bit too much of a been there done that feel. I'm pretty excited, especially since Winstead's character is apparently some sort of a tournament bridge buff, which was one of my passions back in the day.

I felt the same way about the trailers for S2, but was ultimately pleasantly surprised.

Anthologies are just hard to do well.

Didn't really like the trailers but just found out mary elizabeth winstead is in this and that's better than any trailer to get me to watch it.

Pumped for season 3! Really liked the last 2 season but season 1 was the nuts, Billy Bob was insane.

Real good start. Love Winstead and McGregor(2).

The music budget for this show must be out of this world, they played like all of Crazy On You.

Let's talk about what's important. That Winstead ass was actually a double, right?

Ewan McGregor is great in dual roles.

I see we're going heavy on the Camus references again this season.

I couldn't tell if they've made a connection between this 'year' and previous seasons yet? Did I miss something or has it not happened?

Absolutely loved the first episode after I overcame some tilt regarding Ewan's richer brother accent (sounded like a mix of several different accents, including his native Scottish). Looking forward to another brilliant season.

I tweeted a few weeks ago that I had a feeling this might end up being the best season yet, and nothing about that first episode changed my mind.

At least nothing obvious yet.

Show runner Noah Hawley was asked about that in an interview and said that he wants viewers to figure that out themselves. Ewan McGregor teased that we'll see a known character midway through the seaon.

My guess is that the shady investors will have a tie to one of the previously established criminal syndicates. Fingers crossed it's Mike Milligan.

Episode 1 was pretty damn great, these miniseries are really where it's at in terms of narrative flow.

Spoiler:
i had a suspicion about the shady investors, but i was also wondering if there was something about the Mary Elizabeth Winstead/Nikki Swango police chief character referring to the old man that died as her step-father that married her mother after her father died. i was trying to mentally patch together a way her bio dad was a previous character.

2 of the songs in this episode were on the playlist at my wedding.

Very excited for this season. Writing is always so clever.

Does anyone remember from the first season if there were any "flashes" to a place and time like the first scene in Germany at all?

My GF says she remembers something like that.

There's a flashback of the Supermarket King who hired Malvo to find out who was blackmailing him before Malvo took over the duties etc. The flashback went to when he was broke and ran out of gas driving with his family. He finds a briefcase with a million dollars there in the snow.

That briefcase was the ransom which had been buried by one of the kidnappers from the movie, before he was in turn killed by the other kidnapper who was unaware of its existence.
