no posts on the latest episode ?

I liked it a lot. I've watched my share (and still am) of police/investigation series, but this one is my fav by far.

Kinda curious about Watson leaving (or not). I guess she won't, for obvious reasons, but i wonder how they will get her to stay. I like the sponsor guy so far, eventhough he didnt have much screentime, i think he could be a good add on the show. Hopefully we seen him every now & then.

Yeah, liked the episode and the case was good.

I have wondered more or less since episode one how they will get Watson to stay after she stops being his sobriety buddy. I figure there is a decent chance we will get a bunch of episodes of her trying to help other clients with Sherlock showing up needing her help or just running ideas past her in general. The catalyst for why she stays could be Moriarty related, I am still holding out hope for a Moriarty character, but there are a bunch of ways they can go with none of them particularly being more likely than another at this point.

Was really hoping Edelstein would stick around somehow...

If I had to guess, I think that Sherlock will pay whatever her fee for sober companion is to stick around. She was clearly lying when she said she wouldn't miss going to the crime scenes. They have a mutually beneficial relationship, despite it not looking that way on the surface. She has to get her high level brain working again, and Sherlock is probably the only person who can truly challenge her in the old ways she needs to be challenged.

I thought that was another really good episode. The case convolution has to be satisfying to Phill. This is about as complex as it gets on network TV, while still holding a mass audience. I think the case levels are easily as good as the better Law & Order: Criminal Intent cases, which was also intended as a Sherlock Holmes type series.

Yeah, im still watching and I liked the last episode, though like a lot of these "mainstream detective" shows I'm still regularly a step or two ahead of the actual show, mostly due to how they write, direct and edit shots, but I have lowered my expectations enough that I can enjoy it as a better than CSI mainstream detective show than niche but highly complex detective show.

Yeah, it's still a CBS show, so you can't expect a huge amount of convolution (especially in the 10pm hour). Still, it's much more convoluted than the vast majority of detective shows on network TV (I love detective shows, by the way, but not the CSI/NCIS type). I don't know if I like the comparison to CSI, but I've never watched an episode of it, so I don't know if it's an accurate comparison.

I'd imagine you would have found Awake to be completely unbearable on the case side (as I did). They literally had a case toward the end of the season where, within 20 seconds of the guy being on screen, I knew who did it, and why, and they were going for tricky convolution.

I watch the show for the relationship between Holmes/Watson and the character interactions. It's a nice bonus that the cases are still pretty good, as well. Guy framing his wife and "boyfriend" was a nice way to do the case, I thought.

lolled @ the surface product placement

Yeah, that was really over the top. CBS is the biggest Microsoft whoring network out there. ABC loves Blackberry.

Whatever pays the bills, 'tis all good. It wasnt worse than stuff you see on Fringe with their Ford sponsorship for example.

While I do notice the product placements and it does pull me out of the show a little, I don't really mind because it does pay the bills.

Oh and I like this show.

Completely different from Sherlock. Very good for US network TV but not HBO/AMC type good. It is episodic, very little in the way of continuity or arc.

Or the wife on White Collar delightedly using her parking assist in one episode.

Crazy twist on the last episode, but i liked it a lot.

Anybody knows if it was renewed ? There's one more episode next week, but i cant find the information on renewal or not...

I'm sure it will be because I remember seeing some CBS promo a while back saying it was 'TV's most watched new show' or something along those lines. Unless the viewership has dramatically fallen off in recent weeks, I don't see how it won't be back.

I like the show because of JLM and the character in general, but, man, Sherlock is so much better. Thanks to [Phill] for pointing out that show to me. They're both good, but Sherlock is on a whole different level.

I haven't seen the last ep yet, DL'ing now, can't wait.

Sedeete, it's a practical lock for renewal, in my opinion. There are lots more episodes left this season, probably around 11 left.

HH, Vegas got the "TV's #1 New Show" treatment from CBS for awhile, despite the fact that wasn't the case, and that it is nearly certain to be canceled. Elementary's ratings would not be good if it were last season, but it's this season, so they're fine. It's not a "hit" show, but I think it's the best new network drama, this season, and there's almost no chance it won't be renewed. It hasn't lost really any viewers since it's started.

I finally got to watch Sherlock last week, and while I now love both, I think there's almost zero comparison you can make between the two shows, other than that they feature characters named Holmes and Watson. The budget is obviously way higher per episode on Sherlock, and it makes Elementary almost look like a kid's toy in comparison. Sherlock is also an amazing sounding show (episode one of series 2 is all kinds of great for sound, especially dialog mixing), while Elementary is a below average sounding show. The Homes portrayals are also night and day different. Cumberbatch is a strange looking dude, but a completely fantastic actor, with an amazing voice. I actually think that Martin Freeman is superb as Watson, and find his easy way of playing the character possibly the best thing (outside of the sound) about Sherlock. Love both shows, though, and am disappointed we'll have to wait so long for a series 3 of Sherlock.

Well, given that Watson is leaving Sherlock in 10 days, I don't see how the show can continue!!1

Top to bottom, Sherlock is filled with great acting (though I think the guy who plays Moriarty overacts too much). It has extremely high production value, for a TV show, with a lot of arty farty artistry, and great sound. It's a well thought out show, in my opinion, and a fun watch. We plowed through them in less than 2 days (it's 6 1 hour and 25 minute or so episodes). I would just watch it for the sound of Cumberbatch's voice. That's one of the great voices of today, and it just makes no sense that it comes out of a guy who looks like that.
