Pretty much this. I hadn't seen all of the first episode so I went back and watched it after seeing last night's show. I do wonder how much the intro to the pilot (and the general premise of the show) will limit its longevity but this season at least should be very good.
I think there isn't a lot of trust for Nolan since she doesn't have a lot of history with him (it's mostly on his say-so), he's a social misfit who has a lot of ability to sabotage her (both intentionally and unintentionally) and the depth and sincerity of his motivation may be questionable. This obviously will be an ongoing plot issue.
