I really liked Torchwood seasons 1 and 2 guess in the minority.

Just googled and it is to be on within 7 days of it being on Starz but isnt on the released listing on the 7th or 8th.

Not the best ep ever, but the Mel becomes River change inc the flashback stuff with her, Rory and Amy was A+ writing with the rest of the River stuff being decent enough.

I really want to see more of the robot people.

'You're not from Social Services are you?'

Pretty solid ep

For what negatives the show currently has, and tbh i think a lot of that is Matt Smith, these are the best companion characters yet.

The last two eps were really good imo.

Karen Gillan is the best.

You don't like Smith?

Karen Gillan is perfect imo.

I dont dislike Smith as such, he just aint Tennant. He has been improving over the second season as the character gets darker and edgier though.

You're saying that as if it's not a good thing.

This seems like a horrible idea.

Ive been rewatching all the DWs since Eccleston, i think ive changed my mind and now consider Smith to be the best doctor and ive reconfirmed my thoughts that everything about Rory and Amelia is the best arc they have had on the show (Bad Wolf is really close though) with them being the best companions by a big margin.

So yeah to link into the film news (i hadnt heard they were making one tbh), if one were to assume Smith is heavily loved by the time the film is released and Amelia Pond has been considered to be at least as good as Billie Piper pretty much since Karen Gillan entered the story in the police costume the film is going to really really struggle to win people over even if its great.

Given the rules of regeneration and time travel there isnt any reason why they cant be completely separate from the series, the show doesnt conform to the rules of most shows where a big screen production using completely different characters would make no sense.

As a fan i dont have a problem with it provided they keep to the canon of the series - having him be Doctor number 12 is important over being Doctor number 1 in a complete reboot*. Similarly if they tread old ground like having him fight the Daleks then having Davros not recognise him when he introduces himself as the Doctor would be ******ed. No guarantees ill like it, but i figure i would accept it and i think most thinking DW fans would too as it does have an internal logic to it, but the casual viewers might reject it entirely and obviously there will always be a comparison between Smith and whoever the new Doctor is so they probably ought to go in a completely different direction to stomp on that.

* the exception to this might be going prequel, tell the story of the young doctor when he stared into the time vortex, tell the story of him taking the TARDIS and show his early adventures prior to the 60s canon, so the doctor shown on screen is the young version of William Hartnell. I think i would dig that if it was handled well. But again, you must keep with established canon even if you are doing so with seasons of the show that most modern fans have never seen (ive never seen any prior to the TV movie which i only saw once).

Just getting into this now. Decided to start with Smith and work my way back to Tennant if I enjoyed it enough.

3 episodes in and I love it. Smith is great and Gillian is amazing.

I rewatched all the Doctor Whos since Ecclestone a few months ago. Smith is the best by a good margin but i think a lot of that is down to the pairing with Gillan as Amy Pond is an amazing character.

Its gonna take a lot for me to get over the loss of Gillan as his companion in the next season - I hope the new chick is just as good but i cant see it happening.

Is Gillan leaving to pursue other stuff or is she being written off?

Same, although I've been watching it all summer. Rewatching the last 2 seasons now, to get back into the swing of it before the next season starts, really solid show.
David Tennant was so great, I'm growing on Smith but man was Tennant good.

According to interviews i have read it was her decision to go out at this point and she has said part of the decision was to go out while the character is still on a high instead of dragging it along too much. She never really gave a deadline to Moffat and they amicably worked out how to end her character arc and continue the longer Smith's Doctor 11 arc including the River Song plot. With her leaving it basically meant Darvill (Rory) needed to leave too which sorta screwed him over a bit but that is acting in a nutshell.

Obviously time will tell but i hope against hope that Amy leaves on a high note. All other companions joined as happy together people who ended up being broken and Amy's arc so far is to start off broken then end up being fixed. It is going to be hard for it to make sense but it needs to be Amy and Rory deciding to leave the TARDIS behind and carry on happily in their normal lives - perhaps they decide to have a second kid and want to do it normally completely unlike what happened with River. At some point Amy becomes famous as a model too so the framework is there for them to be happy.

Oh and i hope Gillan goes on to be a huge star post Doctor Who. She is a proven comedy actress from before Who, has worked as a model and during the show she has proven herself as a dramatic actress. Hopefully she goes on to conquer Hollywood if that is what she wants and doesnt get stuck doing random **** on ITV over here.

Just finished Series 5, loved it. Amazing finale, great season. Now onto Series 6.

Only issue I'm finding with Netflix viewing is these Christmas Specials aren't on there. Where do I find those?
