My apologies if you took offense; none was intended and certainly not trying to be superior to anyone. Just a fan of the show like everyone else on here.
If you didn't like my answer to the plot point question, certainly feel free to come up with something different...it's all good! My real point, having started watching the show when Pertwee was the lead, is that in the history of the show one thing you certainly shouldn't do is take it too seriously!
One thing I really enjoy about Moffat's writing (and Davies before him) is that he is clearly a long time fan of the show...it really comes through in his stories. And even if the current series has a somewhat darker tone...it's still clear that he's having fun with it. Shades of the Tom Baker/Robert Holmes years...Talons of Weng Chiang took a lot of criticism, but it was a fabulous story.
Just my opinion, but I think what made Tom Baker so popular was that in a sense he wasn't acting...he WAS the doctor. David Tennant had a little of that, but I think Peter Capaldi is getting there...this series has seen him evolve from playing a character to owning it.
So apologies again, didn't mean to step on any toes! Love the show, rarely post, but enjoy reading the discussions.
