This is going to be so hard to watch.

Also, on my guide it doesnt have a two hour episode, it has a one hour episode followed by after the catch. Will there be two hours plus a after the catch episode?

they called it a 2 hour episode because of the "after the catch" show.

Sad episode

I think he amazed his doctor in regards to his original short term recovery.
To me he looked worse like he was physically dying throughout the episode.
He looked really bad with Josh at the end.

Yeah I lost it when Jake told Phil he was going to rehab. Phil goes "I'm proud of you." Man...

Phil seemed to be getting better. His doctors were pleased with his progress and then he had another "event" and died. That was hard to watch even already knowing he was going to die. Especially tough for me as I survived a stroke a few years ago.

I hope Jake can control his impulses and get his life together. It's tough to lose your father but you have to be a man at some point or lose it all at too young a age.

Thought the Discovery team and all parties did an excellent job in regards to Phil's final episode. The part with Phil saying sorry to Josh for not being a better father was chilling. Pure raw emotion in that scene between father and son.

The part in After the Catch when Todd the camera man was telling the story about how Phil called him into the hospital room to film the "end" was quite moving as well.

Sad episode
A specifically remember their advertisments saying "a special 2 hour episode to be followed by after the catch" -- did I hear that wrong? I was expecting a total of 3 hours last night.

They are saying the same thing for next week. I agree its sort of lame, but it appears they are calling it a two hour special because of the ATC show. I turned the ATC off after about 15 minutes. These guys don't really fit that format very well imo. They all seem like cool/funny guys to chat with in a bar, but I really don't feel like watching "bar banter" on a TV show, especially since the banter on ATC comes across as watered down and somewhat forced. On the show, they are all pretty raw and real, and thats what they likely act like in a bar, not like what we are seeing on ATC.

He died 10 days after the initial stroke. I'm not a doctor but this seems about right since they said he was getting better so quick.

I think Phil knew he was about to die. The way he apologized for not being a better dad, asking Josh to hold his hand and get him his lucky necklace and looking out the window all sad.

BS with the special 2 hour episode.

I think next week will be harder to watch. For some reason, seeing the other captains get the news is what gets to me the most.

I dont know why but the thing that kills me is when they show Freddy. He seemed to really have a connection with Phil and showing how upset he was on After The Catch and when he was talking to Josh killed me. I dont know if I can watch when he finds out next week.

Sold way short on the final episode once again apart from the last 15 mins. The tribute was pretty damn sweet though.

RIP Phil

Yea the crap going on w/ Keith and the other ****ty boat sucked. The last 15 minutes were great and the 1 hr tribute after was absolutely fantastic. I always crack up every time I hear about the fart bubbles. What makes it even more awesome is Phil hit a hot spot so there were huge numbers.

Also loved the story of him making $100,000 in single month and going to his HS guidance teacher to buy the house right then and there. Now that's how you tell someone to F off.
