Yea, I'll definately pay more attention to see him. I've seen other people on the boat, I just assumed it was a cameraman.

I wonder how much those guys get paid to be on TV. Sounds silly that this guy would pass up extra money to not be seen on TV.

What's it about? Is it like about 1 fishing season or is it a life story kind of thing?

A lifelong thing. It's about the family history of fishing and how the Vikings started doing it hundreds of years ago. I'd say it's 50/50 about the show and about his family history.

He makes enough money. The fame probably isn't worth it to him. I can def. understand his decision

Funny, they just had an episode on this afternoon from an earlier season and sure enough you see Sig and Edgar's brother on the boat like 5 times. You just have to pay attention and you'll see him.

If I remember correctly from the book, one of his sisters married Nick Mavar. Nick and Sig grew up best friends. Matt Bradley and Edgar grew up best friends as well which kind of surprised me because it seems like Edgar just tolerates Matt on the boat. Also the 3rd brother Norman is super smart and got an engineering degree in 3 years and went back to fishing when he was in his 30's for the money.

Did anyone else lol watching Sig's anger stew up to the breaking point? ****ing hilarious how worked up he gets.

Also wtf is wrong on the Kodiak? Dropped another pot, followed by Wild Bill just reaming the **** out of some deckhand. I kind of missed what the argument was about.

I don't know what's so thrilling about watching dudes smoke cigarettes and catch crabs in a cage but I'll be damned if I can stop watching this show.

I always felt some of the drama with Phil's family was purposely played up for the cameras. But when Sig and Edgar go a it it seemed to be the real deal. Not sure on this latest episode though, with Edgar and the family pictures. Sig's rage always seems pretty believable though.

I would not want to be on that deck. Something is screwed up. Drop me off at the nearest port please.

I didn't quite follow what happened. Was it actually the deckhand's fault or was it Wild Bill's? Wild Bill seemed too pissed for it to be his own fault but the deck hand was telling him that he was just doing what Bill told him to.

It seemed like a huge over reaction from Bill.

I believe he asked how many pots until they reached the cod pots and the deckhand told him like 14 or 15. About 16 pots later Bill asks how many till the cod pots and he tells him 5 so then he blows up on him. I think thats what happend or close to it.

IDK, but it could have something to do with the Bering Sea. Just a guess.

The next episode looks interesting. It appears that someone on either the Cornelia Maria or the Northwestern goes overboard. Of course, that probably means it either didn't happen at all or it happened on some random other boat.

That's a planned crew exchange for the Jake's. They will attempt that instead of returning to Dutch Harbour. They wanted to do that before the big storm hit.

Oh yea you are right. They even said drop one guy in the sea and the other boat picks him up. LOL that they will actually do that. They seem like cool guys to hang out with.

I absolutely love this show. I have watched it from the very first one show special they did back in the day. It will be very sad to see Phil go he was always one of my favorites. I hadnt seen this thread but will def be back.

Love the show. Kinda bummed I opened the thread to find out Phil is gonna die.

I hated that they showed the exchange in the intro of this episode and then not show the trade this episode. Why not show it in the intro of next episode or in the previews.

That whole scenario seems so dumb to me. I mean, isn't that way riskier than just keeping them on the boats?
Deadliest Catch Quote

Its not really that risky, they actually train for it. If another boat goes down, the closest vessel will steam towards the scene to conduct a rescue. That usually involves men in the water who need to be brought on board. The crane with a lifting bag is the same a chopper.

I think this was the best episode yet. So much **** going on. Sucks about Nick losing a crew member and not even knowing how or finding the body. A lot of foreshadowing going on w/ the Cornelia Marie. LOL at Russell getting canned from his 3rd ship in a year.

I thought it was pretty obvious Keith was trying to look like the good guy on TV calling up the Time Bandit. I'm glad they called him out on it and told him to f off.

good thrilling episode. I was honestly on the edge of my seat when they lost sight of Jake.
