Keep in mind that what I'm about to say is coming from someone with next to no fashion sense at all. Jeans, t-shirts, basketball shorts, sweat pants...this is my world...
I agree with most of what you are saying about the women-fail, however, I think the men executed their superior concept really poorly. The 'desk' looked like a folding card table at a glance...I'm sure it was probably better than that, but it was the impression I got. If the men's claim of attempting to put Clay in a subservient role was the truth...also massive fail. (Unless the $#!%y card table desk was meant to emasculate him.) Also, their office must have been having a 'day at the beach' theme that day based on the flip flops and spring frolic outfit that the one girl had on. Really powerful office set-up they had there. Some guy at a crummy desk being served by three chicks who wandered in off the street. Nice.
They should have had some piece or two of high end office furniture, with a few women and clay dressed more powerfully. One of the women giving what appeared to be a presentation to the rest of the group. If they had the time and resources, I'd have had the back drop painted (or some sort of banner pasted to it) to look as if you were high up in an office building with a view of the city out the window.
And then there was the train wreck that was the red carpet display. Terrible. Again, I feel the back drop was very underutilized. Make a night scene on it. Some moon and stars or some city view at night. (Who thought that glass sign was going to show up and look good with that dark background behind it? Or Arsenio, for that matter?) And the clothes! my heavens, the clothes for the red carpet were more suited to the business scene. Does Ivanka not make any sexy dresses? Terrible.
I thought the men had a nice concept which they completely and utterly did not execute. I thought the women did not have a good concept and I agree their display looked amateurish. Dayana looked really pretty...natch, and the color popped in the second window (they should have put some matching shoes on display with the bags since the sign blocked the shoes on the model's feet.)
I thought both teams did pretty poorly. I felt badly for Ivanka having to pretend that either team did a good job.
Only stand outs were Paul's signs one of which you couldn't really see.
