The Celebrity Apprentice 2012 The Celebrity Apprentice 2012

IIRC last season they had a couple of weeks that were heavy on the fund-raising but mostly laid off it outside of that. If they do that again it should be watchable.

For me, I find this show following the pattern of a lot of other reality/competition shows, where they're most entertaining early on when there are lots of fun trainwrecks to watch. Once it's down to the final four or five, though, everyone's competent and it's boring as ****. Unless I'm betting on the result or happen to really like/hate one of the finalists, the last few eps are usually a chore to watch for me.

Yeah that's a good point. Which is why Trump always tries like hell to keep the totally inept but entertaining people like Busey around as long as possible, because seeing a few people get things mostly right isn't nearly as interesting.

and they also tried to bring a lot of twists to the final few eps like switching the teams up, breaking the teams to play as individuals, and bringing eliminated ppl back as helpers, but I agree, they aren't doing enough.

it seems like the same every year except the opening where Trump introduces himself in various glamorous ways like I believe last season he emerged from his Trump tower doors and began swaggering on this 10 mile long red carpet with this guy rolling it out in front of him as he advances I thought that was pretty hilarious. and the other time he came out of his gigantic jet. I wonder what he'll do this time.

Never seen the show before tonight, I'm only watching because of Carolla.

I know all the guys. I had only heard of four of the women (and I only would've been able to pick two out of a lineup), though I probably could've figured out Gotti was related to the mob boss. And I just found out Velasquez was Marta II on Arrested Development!

I didn't know it was more about who you know rather than what you can do.

Yeah, filming started the day after Dan Wheldon was killed.

Women choose the name "Forte" because it means "strength."

At least, that's what they think.

...Seriously? Not one of those women knew what the word meant?

Victoria Gotti is pure evil. What a horrible woman.

And Aubrey O'Day - whoever the ef that is - saying she's the most famous woman there because she has the most twitter followers. LOL

Didn't watch this, so maybe that's why I don't get this post- that IS what it means, as long as you're using the "strong suit" definition of strength. 99% chance they pronounced it wrong, but pretty much everybody does. Just about willing to give that one a pass at this point.

Okay, I just paused and re-read this before posting (I'm a wee bit drunk), and if they want to name their team after "strength", I guess they're probably shooting for "strongness" over "strong suit". So mayhaps your point stands.

I totally made a joke that Velasquez was Marta to my wife after she said she recognized her. But I was totally just making it up.

Gotti seems less horrible than about half the women. I'd prefer her over the Housewife, Debbie Gibson, or Aubrey O'Who?

The Mafia jokes were a bit overdone.

Lampanelli and Valesquez gotta be the favorites out of the women, though. Was impressed with Valesquez telling it like it was. Lampanelli seemed like one of the more genuine ones.

I thought Debbie Gibson was ok, pretty attractive for her age and her random facial expression are great.

That Aubrey chick I'd like to punch in the face.

I was surprised the Miss Universe chick wasn't a vapid bimbo, she might be a darkhorse to go far.

Clay Aiken is one weird looking dude, don't really know how to explain it, his face seems like a mask or something, and from some angles he looks 12 years old and others 50.

Cheryl Tiegs has to be about the most boring contestant of all-time, I'm not sure how someone like that even gets cast in the first place.

Penn has to be the favorite, right? Doesn't really seem to have any weakness at all as far as this game is concerned. Can lead well/follow, isn't abrasive, well known, and I'm assuming he can probably raise a lot of money if he has to.

It amazes me that Trump can say stuff to the women's team like (paraphrasing here): "You really should have won that task". Does he really not understand that when the other team has one donor capable of putting up 300k that it doesn't matter if you have the 9 most competent females in the world opposing them, they're still gonna lose? I'm equally surprised that noone has pointed out in the boardroom that skill in these types of tasks is virtually meaningless and all that matters is who is in your rolodex. I guess it's possible they edit stuff like that out and Trump just throws out fake comments to keep the illusion going that these fund-raising tasks aren't completely idiotic.

It sounds like Michael Andretti continues on the show, instead of his son Marco, according to this.

She frightens me.

Gotti has let me down big time. I just hope she doesn't have those teary issues again.

Valesquez, thought it was not so much of a bright move of her to volunteer as the first project manager. now her resources are tapped out and made herself a losing PM record, good luck.

Yeah, Marco being replaced has been news for a while. I didn't realize the filming started a day after that race. That makes a lot more sense. The whole accident was huge for the whole racing family, and Michael was supposed to announce Wheldon as the replacement for Danica next season that day. Wheldon was a super popular guy and real close with Marco, so I can see why he was upset. I think he said his grandmother had just died recently too. I think Michael will be a much better competitor, but being that late of a replacement will hurt his chances for going deep since he isn't as mentally prepared to be in it, didn't have his contacts lined up (although Michael and Marco's contacts have to be nearly the same), and just might be distracted. Plus just losing the driver is huge for him as well.

well they did mentioned in the final boardroom that they were holding it back their resources, but I agree that skills aren't really helpful in fund-raising tasks.

Not that it really matters, but the opening segment was so spoilerific when they showed a montage of people giving their money to their charities.

I will say that Paul Sr.'s strategy of becoming PM on the first fundraising task based on his one powerful donor was GOAT. He knew he was gonna win it, and could "steal" the women's donations for his charity. I think he knows he ain't gonna win, so might as well help his charity. Excellent play by him.
