this show is way too good to not have it's own thread.

disgraced former baseball announcer goes to small town USA to call games for a god awful minor league team.

the description is meaningless and can't possibly do justice to how incredible the show is.

hank azaria has long been a favorite of mine and it's nice to see him finally get a leading role.

he does not disappoint he's ****ing incredible and amanda peet has become quite the comedic actress herself (I always loved her in the whole 9 yards).

the show is brilliantly written, and everyone from the main characters to the small supporting roles turn in outstanding performances.

it's on IFC do yourself a favor and check it out.

Watched the pilot today and really enjoyed it. The way he describes things is awesome. Looking forward to watching episode 2.

I saw the pilot and liked it a lot. But I wasn't as crazy about it as everyone else. I get a little bit of a sense of the writers showing off. Maybe that's really stupid of me.

Hank azaria is fricking awesome though

I will admit I was slightly disappointed that they had him renounce his degeneration so quickly and profess his love for her but I'm confident the show won't turn sappy.

but def think it would have played better without him having that change of heart.

Saw ep 1 last night. Easily the funniest pilot I've seen in several years.

A+ will watch moar.

Ep 3 the weakest one so far. Still had some funny moments but not as many.

I discovered recently the Brockmire character has been around for 6 years or so. (The ep 3 below is not the ep 3 I was referencing above).

Episode 3 was good, not great...but every show has two or three epic lines that make me burst out laughing

Eh, I guess I'll be the dissenting opinion. There are good bits here, but they're telegraphed from a mile off. Anytime he steps into the announcer's box you know what's coming. It's like instead of your buddy just telling a joke, he says "Ok, I'm about to tell you a joke about this cashier" (or whatever). It takes a lot of the surprise away. And what is comedy anyway, other than surprise or truth.

Ha ya that was good. I think eps 1&2 were better than 3&4 but it still delivers.
