Breaking Bad: season 5 Breaking Bad: season 5

+1 million on the interrogation scene. I lol'd at Mike's "do you want to state that for the camera" line.

Also we are not joking regarding Skylar. Zero speaking lines and minimal screen time this week = her best episode in Breaking Bad history

Walt also was "sure" there was Methyl out there, and seemed pretty confident in letting mike walk that he would reconsider. Considering that the reason Mike came around was a higher up from Madrigal, and that's likely where the Methyl will come from, I wonder if there's something more there? I may be reading too much into it, but I thought it was pretty deliberate how Walt didn't even try to talk Mike into it and how he seemed so confident that the Methyl market wasn't actually dry.

Was the incident where Chow had to be shot through the hand something that took place during a previous season? Or is this the first time we heard of it?

Also have we seen Chris (the guy who kills Chow) before?

wasn't Chau the guy who signalled higher for Mike to aim and shoot that guy through the wall?

That was already kind of covered I think.

In S3 there was a scene where Mike told Walt the anecdote of him dealing with a domestic dispute and taking matters into his own hands. I can't remember if Mike stated that was the reason he got kicked off the force, but I imagine it would be.

I didn't take that as the reason he got kicked off the force but more of an anecdote about people never changing their evil ways

also you don't get kicked off the force for that you go to jail

maybe I'm wrong but I don't think that's meant to be it

btw, the Roomba scene reminded me of a Christmas story

I'm glad they made Mike's story line a big chunk of this episode. I can only take so much of Walt's megalomania as the focal point.

I really like how they are using her this season.

She finally accepted her husband was a lowly meth cook, knew it was risky, but damn they made $$$$

Thats a far cry from accepting the fact your husband is a stone cold murderer. And, Walt shows 0 remorse. Thats how she should be acting.

anyone else notice her wedding ring wasnt on in the bed with Walt?

You're right, I looked it up. It's Laura Fraser who hasn't been in much. A Knight's Tale looks like her biggest role.

In that last scene, did anyone else feel a veiled sense of menace from Walt? Almost like he was warning Skylar?
07-23-2012 , 01:50 AM
Yeah considering he was basically preparing to rape his wife, I detected a hint of menace.
07-23-2012 , 01:52 AM
i got more of a walt is a monster kind of vibe .

The hungry hippos scene sounded an awful lot like gunfire. Not sure, if it's meant to foreshadow something involving the granddaughter or just a gun fight is coming up. Seemed significant, though.

Now, if you want to argue that the writers are trying to dupe us into this line of thinking, I guess I understand that, but I just don't really see the point. If they were trying to fool us, why even use the bacon in the first place? And it's not like that would be some fantastic reveal anyway. I just don't see the logic of it if it doesn't end up being Walt's actual 52nd birthday.

It happened in a previous season.

Chris hasn't been mentioned by name before. He might have appeared; he looks a little familiar, and there have been a handful of no-name thug types working for Gus or Mike in previous seasons.

Opening thoughts:

- Excellent performance from Aaron Paul. For the first 15 seconds of him crying I thought he had finally thought a step ahead of Walt and lied about not checking the Roomba for 1 week.

- Mike took a half measure =\

- Dat Franch

- You guys think all the other restaurants/businesses with logos in the ME headquarters are in the meth business as well? If so; Walt, you are so ****ed.

Prediction:

Spoiler:
Walt will cook sea bass and wrap it in a foil packet in front of Hank. This will be the final clue that really gets Hank suspicous.
07-23-2012 , 02:24 AM
Walt's look after Mike called and told him he was in seemed a lot more sinister then I thought it would be.

Wasn't the biggest fan of how Hank switched from the look at the end of the DEA office scene to the interrogation scene. I was hoping they'd have stuck with that thought process a bit longer. I'm sure it's coming, but I'd have like to have stayed there for a bit.

Aside from that, f*cking flawless.

Nice prediction in the spoiler. Seems too easy, but I could live with it. I have one of my own:

Spoiler:
Gretchen and/or Elliot on that list of 11 names? I know that's a stretch and only based on BS site with a funny quote, but who knows.

or he just wanted to share his Pop Secret with him

Either way, Lydia might not be fully satisfied till more ppl on that list are dead - even w/ Mike threatening her life

Also... is Lydia like Gus's mistress??? Or just logistics for meth
they made it very obvious that Mike is gonna have to kill everyone besides Lydia.

Gus was a homosexual.

Great episode, instantly a classic in this series.

Prediction:

Spoiler:
Somehow Walt Jr or Skyler is going to end up with the ricin and likely die consuming it. This will be Jesse's revelation that Walt conspired the whole plot against Gus and is in too deep.

Also I definitely agree that this is Skyler's best performance in the whole series. her fear was palpable.

After hanks boss was talking about Gus being right under his noes, hank looked like he had a big time light bulb moment...

I noticed this. I was trying to think of scenes where she is in bed to see if she normally has it on but was coming up short. The only scene I could think of was the pilot, and she didn't have it on then.

Meh.. I think this was more something for the viewers for now but is something that will come back later.
