to be fair while tony was a total scumbag for the most part his main downfall and death was pretty directly the result of him refusing to kill a women and children.
had he just allowed the car to be blown up he wouldn't have become the target of the cartels.
just saying.

I feel like the gun is a massive red herring. The only thing that gun would be useful for is taking out a vehicle or something armored maybe. That isnt Walt's style though. He would make a bomb or find a more inventive way of doing things. Let us not forget as well hes just a science teacher turned drug dealer. He doesnt know **** about firing heavy machine guns. Especially guns which usually require two people to use. It would be a ****ty plan.

Its like the flashforwards in season 2. Everyone was saying meth explosion or the cartel come after Walt but then the real answer came totally out of left field.

Im calling it now. That gun doesnt kill a single person.

Yeah, the M60 has to be intended for use against a vehicle or multiple people or vehicles. If you just wanted to kill a single person a hunting rifle would be more effective and could be easily and legally purchased. I also think Mike is the only person we know who could use it effectively. Sure, Walt could read the manual and fire off some practice shots in the desert, but Mike is Mike.

Wild speculation 1: There is increasing tension with Madrigal or the cartel and the M60 is part of a plan to ambush a vehicle convoy along with Walt-made IEDs.

Wild speculation 2: An increasingly desperate Walt knows the DEA is closing in on Heisenberg. He intends to plant the gun somewhere to either send them in the wrong direction or make them believe someone else (probably recently deceased) is actually Heisenberg.

I didn't read the whole thread but did anyone else notice the laptop is not fully destroyed? The cop says the glass screen is broken and in pieces but the hard drive looks intact. I assume Hank will be the one to somehow get the info off the laptop and start cracking the case. Those routing numbers behind the pictures will probably be a big clue to tie it all together showing transactions to the cartel or something like that.

You might want to read the thread. The laptop was covered quite a bit.

i imagine Walt's plan for the M-60 is something like this

Spoiler:

They really are not being very subtle with the Scarface allusions having him pick up a huge machine gun. Say Ello to my ittle friend!
07-21-2012 , 01:31 PM
Scarface only had a M16, a far cry from a M60

BB has never been one for shying from the dramatic.

Yeah I'm signed on to the theory that the gun is not going to be used just to murder people. When Walt thought he might want to kill Gus/Mike/etc he bought a snub nosed .38.

He has some elaborate plan that requires specifically a machine gun.

WTF is Downton doing in that group? Two enormous big sitcom hits and then a boutique prestige critical darling on PBS?

Haha I thought that was a bizarre grouping too.

You tell me, it got like 16 nominations this year.
07-21-2012 , 06:24 PM
Mad Men got 17, and Breaking Bad got 13.

nath, have you watched Downton Abbey?

Agreed. I can't see the show getting crazy enough that Walt actually needs an M60 to murder people. Also, an M60 isn't really a mobile weapon, even if he needs to kill a lot of people I think there would be better choices for weapons.
07-21-2012 , 08:24 PM
I hope he is holed up in some house/fortress/whatever with the DEA (or some criminal rivals in the drug biz) all surrounding him and **** and that's when the M-60 comes into play.

Would be sweet if he's just got like 8 SUVs full of angry cartel members barreling down the street to go kidnap/murder him and he or whoever he has operating the gun just unloads.

Man I can't wait to see how all this **** ends. Gonna be so tilted if I somehow die before I see the series finale.
