so you DON'T think Gus would have killed them himself?

the only way gus's outrage at walt for the dealers' deaths would make sense is if he is the one who ordered the tomas's killing, and he wanted to continue employing the dealers. keep in mind walt didn't really have to option to consult with gus or mike given the time crunch.

maybe, maybe not, maybe **** yourself.

i think Walt might have been about that Gus's scheming, and that this might have been yet another one. Gus might have ordered the hit on the kid, knowing that Jesse would do something stupid like that in response and probably get himself killed. after that he might have killed them anyway to placate Walt and preserve a good working relationship. then there might have been more time to develop a less transparent succession Plan B with Gale in case things didn't work out.

it's hard to say really.

**** Bogden and his eyebrows!!

Gus wanted to be sure the kid stays silent. He was playing Walt. He didn't give a **** about some poor ghetto kid. Not only did Walt kill 2 of Gus' employees without his sanction, he was also becoming a risk to his business and freedom with the careless murder by car.

Just starting my last annual pre-premiere marathon.

I forgot just how great the soundtrack is, even in the pilot. They've got some of the same great droning tones that help with the mood, then there are the quirky songs. Like when Walt stomps the bully in the clothing store. Almost AD level for some of these scenes.

he's changed his mind on this recently. He doesn't really think that anymore because lots of women were also telling him they didn't like skylar.

Half way through s4. Skylar has to be the WOAT character I have ever suffered through. Would rather watch Catelyn Stark for an entire ep in GoT....

The one thing I wont miss about Breaking Bad is all the ****ing hate on Skylar holy ****ing ****.

She isn't supposed to be a character you like, that was very clear from the beginning. The show is Walt-centric and viewers see Walt's struggles in dealing with Skyler.

But why the hell would you think she's a terrible character? What the **** has she done wrong or what has she done that makes her a terrible character? When I look at her actions throughout the show I have trouble coming up with actions that make her "terrible", "WOAT" character, or whatever.

Rewatching Season 5 on Netflix after powering through Season 4.

Season 5 is pretty much perfect. It's intricately plotted and characterized.

1) Live Free or Die - great jump start to the season. Mike wanting to shoot Walt in the desert, Jesse trying to talk him down, Walt not looking scared...and, of course, the magnet.

2) Madrigal - Introduction to Lydia. Mike and Chow and the Hitman. Mike and Lydia in her home. Walt basically raping Skyler. I think Madrigal may be the very best BB episode in the whole series.

3) Hazard Pay - Skylar's breakdown, Mike and Hank and Gomie, Vamanos Pest, Scarface. Walt's manipulation of Jesse to break up with his gal is brilliantly evil. And that last line from Walt about Victor. Chilling. I still can't tell if he's threatening Jesse or not.

Seriously, as insane as it sounds, these three episodes top just about everything that happens in Season 4. Absolutely perfect in every way.

Better Call Saul has to be in the discussion of top BB episodes - doesn't have the same level of tension as some of the later years, but both the Badger arrest and the Walt/Jesse in masks scene with Saul are absolute classics.

My favorite ep was the train heist...At least that is what comes to mind first.

Worst was the one that was spent in the lab trying to kill the fly the whole time

Powered Through Season 5 today.

Yep. I'm pretty damn sure these 8 shows are about as perfect as episodic television gets. I liked it a lot when I saw it last year, one week at a time...but seeing it all in one shot makes some things very clear.

Fifty-One - Lydia is such a great character, ldo, but this episode is Skylar's. The pool plunge and then ""I'm waiting for the cancer to come back."

Dead Freight - The Train. So damn exciting. And it's Jesse's idea. Of course, the thrill of the train robbery is instantly destroyed by the death of the little boy.

Buyout - Empire building. Jesse is done. Mike tries to warn him.

Say My Name - Hiesenberg. Todd replaces Jesse. Say goodbye to Mike.

Gliding Over All - Lydia is one shrewd cookie. The Jail assasinations. Hank saying, "It's better than chasing monsters," and Walt giving him a perfect, disgusted look, while saying, "I used to like camping."

The things that are clear to me now:
  • Walt is a complete psychopath. He's evil. The transformation from Mr. Chips to Scarface is complete. He no longer has any redeeming qualities.
  • Jesse will be Walt's main antagonist in Season 5.2. They've set him up to be completely on the outs now. He's smarter than anyone gives him credit for - he was the one who thought of the magnet and the how to rob the train.
  • In order to complete Walt's descent into pure evil, he will have to kill Hank. It's going to happen. Jesse will be the one to kill Walt in the end. The whole series has been set up for this.

If 5.2 is half as good as 5.1, Breaking Bad will go down as the greatest TV Drama of all time. Period.

I'm already there. I find myself apologizing to The Wire and The Sopranos in my head often. The greats are the greats, but the way this show makes me feel is something I've never experienced before.

Where do you guys rank Half Measure and Full Measure? Those are hands down number 1 & 2 on my list of best episodes.
