Re: Breaking Bad: season 4

Nobody at any point ever even remotely came close to attempting to make the argument that "Showrunner" is an official credit - it's just a term that is very widely used within the industry.

Showrunner

Showrunner (alternatively, but not commonly, show runner) is a term of art originating in the United States and Canadian television industry referring to the person who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a television series.. although such persons generally are credited as an executive producer.
-W
I'd say it's semi-official. When someone is made a showrunner it is reported as 'xxx is named showrunner' not 'xxx is named exec. producer' but yeah, they don't get listed as such in credits. The term exec. producer is applied so loosely anyways, it can mean a ridiculous amount of things from 'showrunner' to 'random studio exec. who wants his name in the credits'.

Anyways, just watched the latest episode, I thought it was prolly the best of the season so far. I lolled hard at Skylar's performance in the audit, she seems to keep being dragged deeper, by the end she could become as dark as Walt. In b4 the same happens to Jr.

This showrunner discussion might be worse than the Skyler discussions.

The original post that started this clearly implied (perhaps unintentionally) that showrunner was something different from "head writer".

It is, and by a good margin.

I'm curious to see how much this business with Ted/Skyler *still* spins out of control.

Re: Breaking Bad: season 4

By all reasoning Jesse should have whooped his ass almost instantly but I guess Bryan is a bit bigger and how they shot it they had me convinced that Walt might have enough old man strength to have faired as well as he did for the first 60% of the fight.
