Of course the IRS has seen every excuse--they don't care they just want the money. If they think you are purposely committing fraud, they are going to go after you hard. If they think you are just stupid, they'll set you up on a payment plan.

Yeah if you give them $600k in cash that pretty much justifies that agent's salary for a couple weeks' work. No need to work any harder to get a criminal conviction.

Skyler gives money to Ted, on the condition Ted uses his company to launder the mountains of money that Skylar can't handle.

Re: Breaking Bad: season 4

Vince Gilligan once described this show as Mr. Chips turning into Scarface, so I've always assumed that Walt would eventually come into power and ruthlessly run his drug empire basically the way Gus is doing now. Then he would get reckless and burn out spectacularly like Tony Montana. I'm having difficulty seeing how that can happen at this point.

I figured that this season would be about Walt's rise to power and transformation into full-on Heisenberg, then next season would be about his unraveling. He had the meek Walt persona and the strong Heisenberg persona, and Heisenberg would take over and dominate Walt. Walt would be no more. But time and time again -- with his reaction in box cutter, his panic when asked to attach the gps device and his response to being asked to take Hank to the distribution center -- he's turned back to the meek Walt in pressure situations. I no longer see it possible for him to become an effective and ruthless boss. The series is still setting up so that Gus could be killed in the next few episodes, but I don't see how Walt could take his place. I suppose with his production and Mike doing what he does, they might be able to handle things together for a little while. But, with the direction they are going, Walt will never fully be Heisenberg. Walt will never be Scarface. He will never be the danger. He will always be Walt.

Re: Breaking Bad: season 4

Walt's a terrible liar, but the way he used to live his life earned him the lack of suspicion. He doesn't understand this.

Some of his early lies are amusing in that as his story is being believed he gets a bit of self-satisfaction-- wow, this really works!

One thing about this is how he deals with Skylar, who now knows better than to trust him. He sticks to the truth, or at least something that he convinces himself is true on some level.

Maybe Marie reveals to Hank that Walt is a liar, and everything comes together for Hank.

They're not going to make up unless Walt puts his head far enough out of his ass to realize how much he needs Jesse in his current situation, how much Jesse has done for him, and how badly he's treated him. It could happen soon, but Walter White is not the guy I'd bet on having a moment of clarity.

Re: Breaking Bad: season 4

Everything in the last few eps is pointing to the fact that Walt is way over his head and has become mentally unstable and unable to evaluate situations & take the correct decisions.

Whatever he is going to do
it's gonna be crazy

I like the way walt treats jesse, as in its very real. many scientists/profs are arrogant dicks who would not give a loser like jesse the time of day. even as their friendship/partnership grew, he'd still probably view jess somewhat the same way.

Skyler's just not interesting enough, we're not invested enough, for me to be interested in her business. She's most useful as somebody Walt drags down and ruins, but I cannot give three ****s about her as a stand-alone (at least while she's just moving down the same path Walt took).
I stand by what I posted earlier.. it really feels more like Gilligan is making work for Skyler (the actress).. she was a legit asset to the show in seasons 1-2 and some of the 3rd.. but now it's sorta weak. Everything with Gus, Mike, Jesse, Walt, and the cartel is so, so interesting that more Skyler and Ted just can't compare.

And yeah, she's obv thinking about paying for Ted, but I doubt she can while avoiding a lot more attention, unless Gilligan just doesn't care.

Also, did anyone find it odd that she was telling Walt that business was good, and then when he asked if they were making a profit, she was like, "maybe, if it keeps up"?

Ok that's actually not bad I like this. But is Ted really gonna be a part of this? And would Walt allow that after Beneke had seckshual intercourses with his beloved Skyler?
