Re: Breaking Bad: season 4
Fwiw I would recommend Lost to anyone who likes a good mystery even when some of the ending sucked (I didn't hate the whole of the 'reveals'), atmosphere is beyond awesome to begin with in most of the episodes and enough to keep watching. It's like the simpsons, we all know most new episodes suck from last few seasons, but the atmosphere the series has created is good enough to keep watching.
The problem is that they took a risk (Breaking Bad is taking the same risk fwiw) with writing stuff without knowing where they would end it. I can see they did their best to end it as good as possible but it simply wasn't good enough, and with any series, esp a mystery series, the ending is very very important. Would the shield be regarded so awesome without the last 3 hours? I think not. Same can prolly be said in lesser degree for SFU which simply has the best ending ever.
If you end a series badly or even just not meet expectations, the whole looks a lot worse.

The difference is BB is honest that they are making it up as they go along.

Just checking in to remind 72off that we're still talking about THE ABC SCI-FI DRAMA LOST in case he's wondering.

This, plus it's first couple seasons were overrated since it was so much fun to watch that people are even more upset that it didn't stick the landing.

Re: Breaking Bad: season 4
Been looking all over for a "Lost" thread, glad to see you fellas finally start one up!
All joking aside, this whole waiting one week for an episode of BB is ****ing brutal. To anyone who has watched this whole series like this, how the **** did you do it?

I'm one of those people, and it's definitely tough to wait a week, but I just keep the "visual entertainment" section of my mind occupied with movies and other TV shows. Then to distract my brain from worrying about the visual entertainment section that is jonesing for BB, I have a job and a life. (But those trivial things are obv secondary to Breaking Bad).

Re: Breaking Bad: season 4
really late here, just got around to watching sunday's episode and thought it was really good, a much-needed turn around after the first few episodes were a bit of a letdown. the emotional contrast within the gale karaoke was brilliant, one of my favorite BB scenes yet (behind all the really badass ones, of course)

In my weighty mod voice:
I totally think this convo is fine. We've talked last week's ep to death by now and I'd rather have an interesting if mostly off topic conversation than another 2 days of debate about everything we already debated for 3 days.

Re: Breaking Bad: season 4
i'm mostly commenting on someone above who started mentioning several characters from Lost and their characters and not even comparing it to BB in anyway.
But whatever, mods are gonna mod i guess

Re: Breaking Bad: season 4
the difference between lost and bb wrt making stuff up as they go is that lost told us they werent and the story itself needed to have very strong and reasonable arcs and resolutions. bb is actually something that could be better simply by making it up as you go, but thats the opposite for lost

Pretty sure we don't have much of a choice in this matter.

Re: Breaking Bad: season 4
I loved the first 5 seasons of lost. There is nothing I like better than a great atmosphere. I couldn't bring myself to finish the last season though. The whole alternate reality stuff was atrocious and unwatchable for me. Still a great show though and very rewatchable. Only other show I was able to rewatch other than the wire ( probably about 3 times )
