Those producers should do the Joe Kennedy story in the same style.

Mabel killed herself a few years after that flashback. That was discussed in s1 iirc. She eventually brought a baby to full term but it died and she lost her mind shortly after.

Wow that was an epic ending! Really like how they tied together everything in the last season. It was like the opposite of True Blood.

Oddly enough, that's the same arc the actress' character had in The Knick.

Yeah, there's something strange about Maya Kazan and babies.

Spoiler:
Quote:
Mabel Thompson, née Jeffries was the first wife of Nucky Thompson, who died several yearts prior to the start of the series. [...]

Mabel was diagnosed with melancholia shortly before or after Enoch Jr.'s burial. Doctors assured Nucky that she would recover with time, but Nucky knew better. He later admitted that he knew Mabel needed him, but he was "so very, very busy.” Mabel, left alone once again while her husband worked, slashed her wrists with his shaving razor a few weeks after the baby's burial, on January 19, 1898.

the last scene with capone and his son was some of the most powerful television I've ever seen. if you remember back to the first scene with these two, it makes it even better!

You need to watch the West Wing church scene with the Sheen monologue. I read somewhere that without West Wing's success none of these great dramas would have ever existed.

Weren't al capones kid and tommy darmody the same age? Yet in the finale darmody is a grown man and Capone is still a kid.

Capone's kid isn't a kid, darmody isn't a man.

It was her sulky pout and mind-blowingly annoying way of speaking that got my goat.

Thoughts on why the commodore hijacks the sherriff pin, then offers it back to mid 20's Nucky?

Here's my theory or maybe i'm just getting it or missing it... he incessantly throws out "always a good boy, always a good boy". He's waiting for him to cross the line of being corrupt or criminal. He's waiting for Nucky to get as dirty as he is, and until then he can't trust him. He's a pedo and Nucky's squeaky clean. He knows he's judging him for being a pedo, and holding it as some prized piece of info. So, he revokes his badge and then offers it back to him. Saying get as dirty as I am, and then we can do business, then I can trust you. Nucky obv doesn't want to get dirty and has a conscious, but he's reluctantly willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead until he's able to control what's acceptable.

Hey guys, Nucky's back. It's all good. New episode tonight.

Spoiler:
Admit it, at least one of you considered flipping to HBO just to make sure.

The final two episodes save the stuff with Al Capone and his son (which was amazing) was pretty bad. They dragged it out way too long and the stuff w Spoiler: Joe/Tommy could have been seen a mile away. I am disappoint.

rewatched season 1, 2 and am in 3 now. noticed that tommy shoots nucky in the exact same fashion as nucky shoots jimmy. first bullet to the right cheek, knocking the victim down, and then the second shot to the forehead.

and boy does the show get duller after jimmy dies.

Boardwalk fans would probably like Godfather of Harlem.

Great cast. Features historical perspectives on the Chin (Vincent D'onofrio) and Bonanno (Chazz Palminteri) as well as Mohammed Ali and Malcolm X.

In fact, even the main characters name is similar...Bumpy Johnson (Forrest Whitaker).

Not to mention Giancarlo Esposito as Rev. Adam Clayton Powell.
