Just watched all of these. Agree with most that The Waldo Moment was easily the weakest, but the other five are all extremely well done.

Loved this show but I felt like the endings were almost universally weak in every episode

Thought Entire History of You and 15 Million Merit endings were amazing, wouldn't change a thing. White Bear's and Be Right Back's were great imo. Other 2 were ok.

Just watched "Be Right Back" - most thought-provoking episode of a TV show I've watched in a long time

Haven't seen Season Two yet, but I feel that "15 Million Merits" is one of the top 5 hours of television I've ever seen. It was a compact, well-paced, completed story that touched on sooooo many important aspects of the world (and an individual's life). Flat out brilliant.

The AVClub is doing weekly reviews of this, and 2 A's in a row got me on board. I've now seen all of them and....

WOW!! Pretty freaking amazing. I'd probably go with White Bear, then The National Anthem, mostly because I wasn't sure what I was getting in to when I started the first episode. I wasn't expecting anything like that.

White Bear is probably the most shocking, but I still think the best two are Be Right Back and Entire History of You

I think all six episodes are at least very solid. The Waldo Moment is definitely the worst-- just not a great concept, but well executed. Fifteen Million Merits is by far the most underrated. It was good most of the way through, even if the sets were really limited and felt like sets, but the ending was even stronger than White Bear, I think.

Modern British Twilight Zone.

The Waldo episode would have worked better if it would have pulled the trigger, and kept about that particular election and cut out the the world domination part or had done was TomD said and placed the end at the beginning and built up the fascist future a bit. For me, the episode still worked if I ignore the ending.

Outstanding series. Just finished all 6 episodes.

If I were to rank them:
1. The Entire History of You
2. 15 Million Merits
3. Be Right Back
4. The National Anthem
5. Black Bear
6. The Waldo Moment

So unlike everything else I've seen on tv.

Is there going to be a third season?

Just saw National Anthem.

Well that was strange. I liked the idea it was putting forth, but I just didn't buy the conceit that a sitting PM and his staff would ever consider giving in to any terrorist demands at all, never mind the one in this show! I think it plays better as a very dark comedy...I just can't take the premise at all seriously.

I'll watch the others, though.

I like eblah's rankings. Top three and four and five can be swapped around and I doubt I'd notice. Waldo was for sure the worst, but still quite good. This show was really remarkably consistent in quality for a Twilight Zone structured show.

Given the hysteria surrounding the Royal Family, I think they would.

Be Right Back was exceptional television. Very well written, acted, and directed. The first half was incredibly creepy and scarily prescient. I don't think we're too far off from this.

the 2nd half was obviously more sci-fi, but still quite good. I loved the resolution, too.

Looking forward to the other episodes now...especially the ones you guys have ranked ahead of this one.

I think a part of the point they were making was the value of the life of the princess being so much higher than anything else a terrorist could threaten.

Also just watched it, I'm seriously struggling to think of a better episode of anything I've ever seen. Absolutely brilliant.

Its been a while since I watched the ep but didnt the PM receive direct pressure from the royals as well as public opinion to go through with their demands?

just finished be right back... thought it was solid; definitely got saved a lot by the speech on the cliff edge.

for me i still have national anthem >>>>> brb ~ entire history

i find it very hard to split the last two, as entire history is just brilliant characters, acting, and intensity, but brb made me think a lot more

Edit: After thinking, Entire history is definitely better than BRB

This is correct. The Entire History of You is a masterpiece. There's no way the feature length version of it will be nearly as good, because you know it's gonna be about secret societies and hidden conspiracies and the one man who can get to the bottom of it. Instead of a very small, very real, very human drama about incredibly well drawn characters living real lives.

White Bear is a fun ride with a very shocking twist but really does not hold up to any thought. It's not saying anything about society or anything, it's just a "here's a crazy and mysterious situation... AND AN UNEXPECTED RESOLUTION? Eh? Eh?"

Entire History of You
Be Right Back
(gap)
National Anthem
White Bear
(gap)
15 Million Merits
(big gap)
Waldo, which completely lost track of itself or what it was trying to do, and essentially made the same point as 15MM in a vastly less interesting way

Did you still feel bad for her when you found out what she was?
