Well wasn't that some ****. Chuck can suck it.

My first thought was definitely 'why is he putting a crashing stock on the wall?'

Howard runs like a girl in high heels.

So, is the gas cap/bug thing actually a test by Gus who is one step ahead of Mike?

It seems Gus/Victor put the bug in Mike's car to see if he was capable enough of finding it and tracing it to Gus. Victor going to Los Pollos Hermanos for breakfast each day seems to be for the purpose of drawing Mike there (and nothing else). If Mike shows up, he passes the test and is offered future employment opportunities.

I think you're reading too much into it. They were keeping track of Mike to make sure he doesn't go after Tio again. They didn't expect he'd be onto them. It was at Pollos that Gus or one of his people realized that something was amiss and discovered Mike. At least that's how I'm going to take it until shown otherwise.

Yea I think it was meant to be obvious how suspicious Jimmy was acting inside Los Pollos (e.g. his prolonged staring at Victor) - Gus sweeping near Victor was meant to be a signal that Victor should gtfo. Gus probably then had someone follow Jimmy, and doing so led them to Mike.

Yes, but a nice bit of directing having Jimmy roll the tape off the wall the way Chuck showed him. Up until the point when he loses his **** that is.

My thoughts as well and Jimmy moved his car right next to where Mike was parked out watching him so it doesn't seem like it would be that hard. I didn't understand why Mike went to the scene even from a distance when he had Jimmy go in. Also Jimmy should stick to being a criminal lawyer, with his suspicious behavior inside LP.

I also don't understand the hype about Gus. It is nice to see him back but I just don't get the hype.

Overall though, great episode, great show. I like the slow burn but I do hope that it starts to speed up and we see Saul in action this season.

I think Saul gets unveiled rather quickly, maybe as soon as next episode, I just don't know how it's going to go down. We know he's still licensed to practice law in the BB times so he gets out of this felony somehow, changing your name isn't going to save your law license in any state after you're convicted of a crime. I feel like Chuck has a change of heart at some point and agrees to get Jimmy out of the jam he's in (because of Chuck) if Jimmy agrees never to practice law again or something. Then we get "JIMMY MCGILL WILL NEVER PRACTICE LAW AGAIN" or something and then Saul is born.

I actually had this same thought as I was watching. Afterward I kinda backed off it after thinking about it a bit. Gus looked extremely annoyed in that last scene where he's outside emptying the trash or whatever. Contrast that with how pleased he was with Jesse calling out the Mexican noob meth cookers over the sorry state of their lab.

I am worried about poor Ernie's fate more than anything rn guy was just earnestly trying to help a crazy person change out his tape recorder batteries now he's mixed up in all this crap

Am I missing something? That was not Victor that Saul was watching. Victor pulled around back later and that is who led mike to the phone/gas cap.
04-18-2017 , 12:59 PM
Yeah, I was wondering why he was being called Victor. It is someone I'd never seen before.
04-18-2017 , 01:02 PM
Yea by "Victor" I simply meant the dude who Saul was watching - I honestly couldn't tell you the names of many of the secondary characters.

I wonder if that was a set-up. Chuck figures Ernie will tell Jimmy so he presses play before Ernie puts in the batteries.

Also, how would Jimmy know about the tape unless someone tells him? Chuck hired the PI's to be ready when Jimmy came for the tape, so he knew Ernie would tell him.
04-18-2017 , 01:22 PM
Definitely a setup.
04-18-2017 , 01:40 PM
Of course it was a set-up!

And Gus called off the guy with the bag...he saw Jimmy watching the guy with the bag and they obviously had a pre-arranged signal or something - "If I just sweep up by you, take the bag and get out."
04-18-2017 , 01:43 PM
yeah the connection between chuck and mike with the batteries last ep was good (but cryptic) foreshadowing for this ep where chuck does his own setup and stakeout
04-18-2017 , 01:50 PM
A set-up, wow!!!!

Yeah this has to be it. In real time I thought maybe Gus had somehow switched bags while he was sweeping but I think you are correct.
