Are you saying that millions of rapist gemsbuck enter Mexico illegally from the US?

The Mexican president should do something about that and make the US pay for it. But please don't just build a fence, that's way too weak!

Bit I really liked about this week's episode:

When Jimmy's sitting on the curb at Chuck;s house, and Chuck is giving his soliloquy, going on about how this will make Jimmy a better man.

I thought that is the writer's way of pointing out to us that Chuck's pushing Jimmy toward being Saul (from Jimmy's perspective, not Chuck's intention).

I mean, if you keep going through things that make you a better and better man, eventually you've got to become a good man, right?

They follow through with this in the next scene when Jimmy is being booked. He's at the police station in a respectable black suit and takes off everything that makes him Jimmy Mcgil piece by piece as the cop calls out what to remove next. It's a pretty subtle but awesome way of showing Jimmy stripping himself of what he is and becoming a criminal. A great piece of directing to show his metamorphosis

Sure, eventually. But I guess it depends on how low you start and how big the steps are. Hitler starting to help old women over the street is still far off from him being a good dude.

Not sure I agree with that. He's also taking off lots of the things that make him Saul Goodman. Tie, belt and ring are all things he's always wearing. It's easy to remember his BB character for dressing funky, but there are lots of occasions (and billboards) that show him in pinstripes, white shirt and non-flashy tie.

Yeah, I just meant the writer's use of that phrasing specifically, not whether Jimmy or Saul is, in fact, a good man.

One other thing I forgot. For some reason, I thought it was a good idea to re-watch the final season of Breaking Bad last night.

In the episode after Jesse had been throwing the cash around (I think, I had a few beers), he bursts into Saul's office.

Saul says something like "I'm sending Francesca back to the DMV!"

I really like this and didn't realize/think about this part when it happened. Cool.

...and I will NEVER get tired of this device, apparently. No matter how fleeting a BB character may be, I will always delight to see them turn up here.
ya, cant wait for the junkyard owner guy to appear

I was disappointed that Mike went to a different junk yard to tear his car apart.

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for Spooge and Skank.

think they're trying to avoid going FULL with Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, but that's mostly why we're all here, and the Mike stuff being >>>>> the Jimmy stuff basically the whole time isn't helping

might as well just steer into it really

I think you're in the minority if you don't like the Jimmy stuff.
04-29-2017 , 07:45 PM
the Jimmy stuff to this point? i doubt it

i mean let's get to him being a criminal lawyer already

This show is so elite. Loved the shoe thing. Never would have thought of that in a million years.

Love how every scene is a slow burn with a huge payoff.

If you want to see him as a criminal lawyer, just rewatch Breaking Bad.

I wouldn't be surprised if it takes Jimmy until the end of Better Call Saul to become the character we know from BB.

Can only speak for myself, but I really like the way the show is taking and think the Jimmy storyline is very good. There are enough shows that feature a crooked lawyer, but Better Call Saul is the only one to show how somebody will end up in that position.

Agreed, this show seems much more like an enjoyment of the journey than a rush to the destination than BB was.

no one would have thought of that because it was fancy play syndrome to the n'th degree. Made for a cool scene but this was one you kinda just go with and not think about. Of all the ways to disrupt Hector's supply line that's what they come up with.

i found it incredibly stupid. Thatīs not a easy shot. Untested. Wind-conditions both for the shot, and for the ****ing drug etc. Itīs more like Mission Impossible than BB/BCS.

Well I mean, this show has that advantage doesn't it? We know about 90% of the ending already, so it can't be anything but "Here's how this happened, enjoy"

With BB there was always the "I wonder what's going to happen at the end" feeling that you get with a book that you can't wait to end but will be disappointed when it does. For some, that makes it much more about the ending than the journey.

I dont believe that it will take the whole series for him to become a criminal lawyer. When the spinoff was pitched, I'm pretty sure everyone thought (and wanted) that to be the baseline for the series. Gillian and crew would be leaving a lot on the floor if they don't explore that part of his life too.

Predictions on how many seasons this show will run?
04-30-2017 , 06:19 PM
6

Five or six. Breaking Bad had 62 episodes, hard to imagine them doing more than that on Better Call Saul.

But if it fails, so what?

Further to the discussion of when Jimmy is in LPH surveilling the bag man in S3E2. Jimmy was at the soda counter putting sugar in his coffee when the bag man collects his order and heads to a booth. As Jimmy picks up his tray and moves to a table closer to where the Bag Man settles, they cut to a shot from overhead camera with a wide angle lens. This is what Gus would have seen if he was in the back watching his Security Monitors.
