I believe he had run into Ken right before that in the bank line.

Thought it was great. Picked up right where it left off.

My interpretation of the Playah scene was way simpler. He did have cards stolen but is too stupid to realize what actually happened. He really thinks it was kids or drug addicts who robbed him. He has no idea it was nacho.

Playah moved the couch to look if his money and pills were gone and then moved it back before calling so as not to "be obvious".

This is likely the correct interpretation. He has shown all along he has no clue; it is unlikely that a light bulb suddenly went off in his head, allowing him to piece everything together.

It's ironic, because at the end of the episode, Jimmy has now decided to be a lawyer - but on his own terms - he will not fail to take advantage of a windfall again like he did last season. The light switch is a metaphor for Jimmy not giving a **** - he will do what he wants now. But the flash-forward shows the consequences of that decision, many years later - he is not free to "flip the switch now."

Or something.

This

But also, I don't think it just about him deciding to be a lawyer on his own terms. He knows there is an expectation of " falling in line" now because he is not just a lawyer working for himself, but a lawyer in a firm with rules, resources, a pecking order, protocols, etc.

I think flipping the switch is just as much a message that he is not going to conform in the new firm... And the switch is the first step in his downfall..

Great episode.

I didn't understand the turnaround - one moment Saul is in the pool calling about the whale, the next he takes the job anyway. What did I miss?

He realizes that despite what Kim said just before he turned down the job, if he wants to have a relationship with her his best chance is to take the job. Even after all the fun they had the night before she's not going to just up and leave and become a con-woman alongside him as he seemingly hoped.

Kim isn't answering his calls...if he wants to keep things going with her. he has to take the job. She's not going to be Bonnie to his Clyde the Conman for realz, you know?

I have no doubt that the baseball cards exist. This idiot called the cops because he's clinging to the hope that his precious cards will be recovered...and he has no idea that it was the enormous bag of money that lured the thief into his house.

And no, Mike is not going to confront Nacho about this. We already went down this road...in Deadwood!

BROM
I'd pay handsome bounty if they were
brought to make restitution.

HICKOK
Sorry you lost your money Mister,
but I ain't for hire to rob it back.

BROM
I make no terms as to method.

You don't figure a good talking-to'd

Agree. I'm not sure if couch was moved by Nacho or Playuh, but that little detail doesn't matter to me, and we'll find out soon enough, any way.

LOL at people saying Saul working in Santa Fe somehow will affect the show. You do realize that plenty of people commute an hour to work don't ya?

I'm curious how much cash Saul was able to keep when he took off at the end of Breaking Bad, and if he still has any of this money left while he is being Gene at Cinnabon.

I paused it the second they showed Ken at the bar talking into his bluetooth and I went to verify he was the same as in BB. Didn't know at the time he would be more than just a passing nudge in the bar.

I'm wondering if he's going to be due his big Sandpiper payout while working at Cinnabon.

If so, perhaps Kim is looking for him and will somehow find him in Omaha. It's reasonable to assume older Saul is going to eventually be in contact with his old acquaintances.

WAT? His Sandpiper payout likely happened prior to BB staring, let alone AFTER BB ended.

Hamlin said it was likely a few years case, not over a decade long case.

yeah, think present Saul universe is 2-3 years before BB, and then BB must have run for a few at least

would assume the Sandpiper thing was resolved somewhere along the line, and it's not like they need to drag that out for the end of the series

For being robbed? It appears that any stolen pills Pryce may have been hiding are now gone. Either Nacho took them, or Pryce moved them. The police aren't going to find them if he did move them somewhere else in the house.

The only reason they showed it was to show how/why pill guy is going to be under suspicion (because of his idiotic reaction to the robbery) which will lead to him getting busted.

If they did it just to show us the robbery then it was a terrible scene and superfluous.
I don't think the scene has to suggest that Pryce is going to get arrested. It seems just as likely that he's going to figure out what happened to his money and try to get it back.

Yeah BB is notably shorter than most people think because it aired over like 7 years, but quite clear about it being 2 years. They met Saul in like late 2009.

What we don't know is how far into the future the black and white "present day" Saul clips are.
