Better Call Saul - Season 2 Better Call Saul - Season 2

I listened to the podcast for the first time today (didn't listen at all during s1). I thought it was only okay. The last half hour when they actually got into talking about the show was great but before that it felt like an hour of mostly Bob Odenkirk fluffing on with a few good moments here and there.

Was this a particular weak podcast ep or was it about standard? I enjoyed it and I'm not saying it was bad, but I'd heard people rave about it last season and it didn't live up to my (perhaps bloated) expectations.

Hollywade, you don't need to put episode discussion in spoilers.

Parisron, you do need to put previews discussion in spoilers please (and it helps if you actually say that that's what the spoiler is so people won't click it like I just did). why? because a lot of people don't like to know what's coming - pretty obvious.

I listened to a couple last season then stopped because like you said, there was way too much fluff. I would probably listen if they were half as long, but there are too many other podcasts to listen to.

By the way, it's likely that Nacho didn't know he stole baseball cards at the time. He probably just grabbed the safe.

This was my take on it as well. Nacho realized that pill dude was getting sloppy, decided to cut his losses, and grabbed as much of pill dude's cash and valuables as he could before shoving him out the door.

This is plausible. I didn't think of that.

Recommends Jimmy for what? If someone stole something and you want to get it back, I think it's pretty clear that Mike is your guy.

What was the thing Saul turned off at the very end in his office?

Stan Sitwell (Standpoor) FTW! Lost it when I saw him at the start as the dude from the law firm offering Jimmy a job.

This doesn't make sense. Playuh didn't want to talk to the cops about the missing cash, only the missing cards. He's telling them to go to pawn shops to look for someone trying to fence his cards. There would be no point to that if the cards didn't exist.

I listened to that podcast last season. It was pretty much everyone filating each other with maybe half the podcast full of interesting stuff. I'd suggest watching talking Saul after the show.

Yes. The scene of the robbery at pill guy's house is totally unnecessary unless pill guy gets booked. As soon as we see Nacho look at the address/name in the hummer we know what is going to happen, we don't need to see anything about the robbery at all. The only reason they showed it was to show how/why pill guy is going to be under suspicion (because of his idiotic reaction to the robbery) which will lead to him getting busted.

If they did it just to show us the robbery then it was a terrible scene and superfluous.

Good episode overall, my expectations are also absurdly high for this show so probably better than good in reality and tainted by my mindset.

I don't think Talking Saul will be very good either. I would highly recommend checking out Post Show recaps podcast http://postshowrecaps.com/ which is hosted by Rob Cesternino, a former Survivor player.

I was thinking he was making up the baseball cards hoping to scam his insurance company since he knew the cash was not recoverable, could be wrong though.

He's not self-aware enough to do that. He's legitimately upset about the cards being stolen. The fact that he realized he goofed when mentioned some cash being missing is evidence that he wasn't trying to recover the money.

I think this podcast is a consistently fun listen. Great guests (Saul, Mike, etc.) telling inside stories, etc. Vince Gilligan gives up a lot about how the shows evolve during writing and filming. Very interesting stuff.

"Talking Saul" was just OK.

That would not work. His collection would be subject to a rider and the collection would be inventoried with the insurer.

He was just very obnoxious in the bank one time when Walter was waiting. And I also remember Walter lighting his car on fire in gas station.

Incorporating Mike was such a good move in this show - would be nowhere as fun without his story lines.
