Ballers. New HBO series starring The Great One - Page 3

First & Ten, then Arliss, then Entourage. Seems like HBO always has a show kind of like this running, but this one really combines all three it seems.

i thought Brink was very good and has decent potential. Liked Ballers also, but i went in with the expectation that it was what i thought it was, football entourage.

it's EXACT how the previews made it out, what did u expect?

if u saw the previews and were interested enough to tune in how u can then complain is beyond me.

i mean the previews were all ZOMG WE RICH AND BALLIN HOT GIRLZ MONEY FOOTBALL. it was football+entourage. maybe some people thought the previews were just highlighting that side of it to attract viewers but that there would actually be some depth/realism/etc.

note, i liked it, bc i think the rock is ****ing awesome and i had zero expectations beyond football+entourage. but this idea that there's no way you could have saw the preview, tuned in to watch it, and not liked it is just silly.

and it's not like hbo has a history of deceptive marketing.

their shows are almost always exactly what they appear to be in the previews.

it's a pretty absurd argument to be like

"well I saw the previews but tuned in expecting to see a realistic deep depiction of what it's like to be in the sports industry in Miami and was really disappointed that what I saw in the 30min comedy show was EXACTLY what they showed in the previews, wtf?"

but if u want to argue just for the hell of it knock yourself out.

who is watching this expecting depth and realism. it's a fun show about athletes punting money just like professional poker players, I think it's a fun and entertaining comedy. don't expect a true detective, this is a 30 min comedy..

if you didn't laugh at rob cordry show prolly isn't your type of humor but the previews didn't exactly make me expect a ton of humor.

I feel weird cuz it seems as tho I'm in love with this show with how hard I'm defending it when I don't think it's amazing.

Exactly. Its good for what it is, a "happy mood" show as I like to call them. Always fun seing people with moneys spending it and the amount of hot girls and Miami doesnt make it worse

Its IMO literally impossible to watch this show and not like it if you watched it because you saw the previews or read this thread cause it is really clear what kind of show this is and it is delivering on that.

Even Entourage waited until like 1/2 way through their run before they started slightly censoring aspects to make it easier to edit for syndication. Ballers is starting already. Like they're going to get 7 seasons and a movie....

There's no real direction in the show. A better idea would have been to turn the rock into a crooked money manager. Instead of this being a sports version entourage it should have been a sports version of Bernie Madoff.

I enjoy it for mindless fluff, hot women n awesome cars, but the whole gm trying to recruit a retired out of shape lineman is pretty ridic.

I have zero issues with stupid plot lines in a show like this but this is def the worst of all.
would be much better if he wanted him to come work in the front office.
