That was some great TV. Loved the twist. It is a little annoying that nobody has gone home in forever but damn that was a compelling tribal.

I feel that the 4 that switched tribes if they manage to survive for the next couple of weeks will be in great spots. They get to develop relationships with more than half of the castaways.

Also wtf is up with Matt. I thought the guy was a fan of the show. How do you change your mind at tribal not once but twice. If i was in an alliance with him I would not be too happy. Maybe he can play it off like he also voted Conner for the second vote as well. Otherwise he has gotta be in trouble.

edit: Also isn't Kylie's move to refuse to change her vote to Conner. That way she keeps her one ally Conner in the tribe and switches out what she thinks is one enemy for a possible ally. Worse case she basically stays in the same position and is next out but on a different tribe. I am assuming her and Conner had a deal since in tribal she kept patting him on the leg.

Caught up to the twist episode.

I was almost certain he was going to say "whoever is voted out isn't going home, they're going to... REDEMPTION ISLAND!"

Well at least this is a little better. Almost seems like they were doing a make-up because it was completely unfair for the red tribe not to lose anyone in the previous episode.

That was amazing, great little twist!
It wouldn't fit into a 42min US episode but it worked in this longer format. It was completely new and completely unexpected.
Due to the division in both involved tribes I think there's a chance that the swapped pairs stand a chance to survive until the next mixup.

There's so much dysfunction going on so that this could turn out to be a very interesting season.

show is delivering! very compelling tv.

i was shocked at how bad they were at starting fires with the flint. i mean you know you're going on survivor. learn how to start a damn fire with flint.

and lol at how bad they were at lying when they got the moral dilemma immunity idol clue

that yellow tribe is loaded. they have to be the favorite in the physical part of the challenges. but the blue tribe now has nick AND the mentalist/magician, and they are both beasts at puzzles.

i felt bad for the firefighter girl who showed her idol and got called a dumb ass. she was humiliated.

I was like "Nick, wtf are you smoking that's a great move to show it I thought you were supposed to be a mentalist", but then a few seconds later I realized that Nick most likely did this on purpose to scare her into playing it. If so, that was a really quick and smart reaction on his part.

This. It also makes it seem that there are so many more interesting people on the show, while in reality it's probably just because we have more time to hear their stories.

Not sure I really liked the twist in a vacuum, but damn those were some good people to keep in the game. Woulda sucked if it was Kat or Barry.

i thought it was a genuine reaction. he was emotional at the time. i could be wrong. it would be a super sick move if he faked it to manipulate her.

oh and it was funny when the mentalist was saying "i thought, being a mentalist, i could just read everyone, but no. i can't tell anything." and then he seemed to doubt his whole existence and worth as a person lol!

i was hoping that flick was saying "everyone is gonna vote out me" just to trick the firefighter into NOT playing her idol and then vote her out.

i think watching the show we are often times thinking a few levels deeper than the players in the middle of it are. its gotta be a lot easier to arm chair quarterback than to do it in real life.

Australian reality is also far more concerned with back story and character journeys than their US counterparts (Masterchef definitely the best example of this).

I was worried that moving to three days a week was them burning it off as the ratings dropped pretty hard from first to second week, but they bounced back pretty well with the twist episode. And if that's the episode that most viewers see there's a good shot they stick around

Yeah you could be right, maybe it's just me hoping that's what happened, because I kinda like Matt. When he first came on I thought he would be this annoying emo dude dressed in black but he's super chill and seems decently smart.

Also thought flick was doing that for that exact purpose but yeah, we might be reading too much into it.

im liking this one better than the american one. i like the longer format. also, as an american, it's interesting to see the australians. cultures are slightly different. the australians seem to have a bit more empathy. for example, they really loved that old dude who ended up quitting.

i could be wrong, but it seems like their concern is a little more intense when they see their tribe mates suffering. of course, i'm speaking generally. a couple of them seem like they're out for blood.

i don't know if it's true, but i've heard that australians are a bit more racist than americans. there is only one black guy on the show, and it does seem like he's not really connected with anyone.

it is whiter than any american cast, right?

We have much fewer black people in Australia. If they were going to do it strictly based on race then 1/24 would be indigenous Australians (Barry), 2/24 would be of Asian descent and the remaining 21 would have Australian, New Zealand or European ancestry.

Having lived in Brisbane and Sydney those numbers are actually pretty surprising. The cities feel very culturally diverse. I would say that Australia has a problem with racism but I haven't seen too much of it within the young middle class demographic.

Australia is generally pretty racist. Not Trump being nominated for a major party racist, but the most racist party now has a few seats.
It's been an issue for a while on Australian tv that other races are generally underrepresented, aside from cooking shows. Specifically we have a decent sized number of people from an Asian background, especially in major cities, that is rarely seen on tv.

i mean i guess it's like that everywhere

usa has made a lot of strides recently to put more different kinds of people on tv. its still ridiculously racist though. and sexist.

i noticed you said indigenous. is aboriginal frowned on?

also, im FIENDING for the next episode!!!

Canada, the best place to live imo. Everyone gets along. The other day my smoking hot 20yr old Asian neighbor knocked on my door and brought me some green tea cheesecake that she and her roommate made. Made extra and gave some to everyone on my condo floor.

I'm so confused about this show's air dates. These are the dates so far:

#1 Episode 1 Episode 1 2016-08-21
#2 Episode 2 Episode 2 2016-08-22
#3 Episode 3 Episode 3 2016-08-28
#4 Episode 4 Episode 4 2016-08-29
#5 Episode 5 Episode 5 2016-08-30

Episode 6 is airing Sunday 09-04. So we've seen 2 episodes in a row, 6 days break, 3 episodes and now 5 days later the next one. Are they just last minute deciding what to broadcast or wtf is going on.

It was originally scheduled for only Sunday and Monday (ep 1 and 2). After the first week an extra day was added Tuesday (ep 3-5)

Regarding ep 5 twist -

Love the twist for keeping two (seemingly) good characters (not necc good players).
Hate the twist from a game purity perspective.

Right, I guess that makes sense. Kinda annoying how 5 days feels like a long time after watching 3 in 3 days.

Its coz the station does 3 nights survivor then 2 nights bachelor.

They use to do 1 a week with everything but with the rise of netflix and stuff they have found if you have to wait 15 weeks with 1 ep a week people give up.

i just realized that the red team gets totally screwed by the twist. each of the other tribes should have lost another player, but they didn't.

Well that was a filler episode.

I think Connor's case should've been: between me and Sam, I'm the one that got actually voted out, I just dragged Sam with me to make their tribe weaker. I have all the reasons to be loyal to you, while Sam has none.

I don't even know why Vavau was condering keeping Sam over Connor in the first place. Seems like every challenge is decided by a puzzle (in this case fire) anyway, the physical parts are completely meaningless. And it's not like Connor is in bad shape (he actually outran Sam by a lot in the challenge today)

At least that boring, uninterested, sanctimonious idiot got voted out. Good riddance!
