Anger Management, Charlie Sheen's new show Anger Management, Charlie Sheen's new show

The first episode aired yesterday, what are your opinions?

I thought it was a bit bleak, but didn't hate it, I'm sticking with it to see how it develops. Charlie's ex was horrible and had zero chemistry with Charlie (Selma Blair worked really well on the other hand), but has a smoking hot body. I'm not sure if the therapy group will work, it didn't seem funny at all and I hate that butterfaced girl already. Hopefully Michael Boatman will get some more screentime, always liked him in Spin City.

I liked the opening monologue, but the first 2 episodes were not that memorable. Do not recall any funny jokes or moments...

I'll stick around for a while based off of FX good will from the league and it's always sunny.

I loved Shawnee Smith from her Becker days but she seems too understated in this. Will give it a chance for a few eps bc of Sheen/Blair/Boatman

I'm gonna give it a shot, but there no way it can be remotely as bad as Brand X. That sh*t is infuriatingly bad.

Ratings were pretty good for the first 2 episodes. If the season ratings hit a certain level the show is automatically renewed for 90 more episodes to be shot over the next 2 years.

I thought it was pretty bad.

The second episode was one of the worst things I have ever seen on television.

INFRACTED FOR WATCHING AT ALL.

I am also infracted, as I ended up catching the last 5 minutes or so waiting for Wilfred. Awful. I know why I watched it (drug use and crippling lethargy), what's your excuse?

Spoiler:
nobody is banned, but you should all maybe kick something hard and hurt a toe as punishment

Haven't watched it yet, but I've set a recording on my DVR. Reason: tigerblood warlock vatican assassin bi-winning on a drug called Charlie Sheen.
Spoiler:
pretty sure this show sucks

Just finished watching the first two episodes.

Thought it was completely meh, didn't find that much funny in it.

I'll watch the next episode purely because it's Sheen but not expecting much from the series tbh

Do you not look at cable ratings as much as you do network? Those ratings are really high, not just pretty good, especially for summer for a scripted TV show. It's not really high overall viewers, but it's pushing 3 times the average 18-49 ratings of any show that gets renewed on any of the cable channels. Unless it drops off major, next week, they could do exactly what you said. The second episode also was higher than the first, which means no one probably tuned out, generally considered a good sign.

I try to look at ratings when they matter, obv way less in the summer than the typical Fall-Spring season. I knew about the 90 episode renewal but I didn't know it had to happen in 2 years which pretty much guarantees sub par production from an already bad show.

I can live with it if it means better numbers for Wilfried and Louie.

Haven't seen it but I did laugh at one of the quotes from the promo I saw. I'm paraphrasing but it was something like "Better than the current version of 2.5 men." That has to be the least impressive endorsement of a show ever.

The ratings crashed and burned for last night's episode, but it's still considered very solid ratings for a cable show. Based on Chrizza's comment, it may lose more viewers next week. They've already renewed it for a second season.

Eh, it was ok. I could have written a lot of the jokes and Charlie plays himself. He doesnt even play himself as a psychologist. He just plays himself pretending to be a psychologist. On the other hand, I don't know what you were expecting if thats some type of disappointment. Just saw episode 1 of Brand X, yikes. I loved Ponderland/Russell Brand's Got Issues but this was kinda like, watered down that.

i've been in love with selma blair since cruel intentions, so i'm thinking about watching this show. I'm wondering how big her role is tho. is there enough of her for me to give it a try?

Reason number one that I couldn't be a therapist. I would have banged that hot chick if she were coming on to me like that.

Don't wanna get banned, but I have been watching this show. It is what it is, as everyone has attested to.

Definitely going for across the board career revamping in it.

Selma Blair, who I only remember as the hot girl who made out with the hotter girl in Cruel Intentions. What has she done since?

Shawnee Smith I have seen since Becker.

And now they brought in the big-rating-guns.... Denise Richards.

I don't remember anything else about this show though.

This show is terrible. I'm also really confused by it.

Before seeing the pilot I had no idea what it was about, except that it was titled "Anger Management" and all of the teasers/commercials basically were dark jokes about Charlie Sheen 'dying and coming back' or 'getting a 24th chance' and basically spoiled nothing about the show.

I was expecting some sort of "FX-like" (if that makes sense) dark comedy in the mold of their other shows. What I ended up seeing was a super laugh track filled, 20 minutes of fluff sitcom television that I would've expected on CBS. I assumed at this point in his career Charlie Sheen was above this crap (probably a terrible unsubstantiated assumption). I definitely thought FX was above this crap, especially with their history of making really good/original programs.

One thing that sticks out as super terrible with this show is the casting of Charlie's daughter. She plays a 13 year old immature girl, but she's 19 in real life, doesn't look 13 (she has lady parts and I am wierdly attracted to her and now feel bad about myself) and it's absurdly not believeable to me when I see her completely oblivious to/falling for Charlie's ridiculous lies, because no girl 'her age' would be so naive.

It's definitely not an fx-caliber show. I've been recording it and watching it at some point during the week when I'm bored. But I think I will stop so as not to support fx selling out to put on bad shows for better ratings.
