Do you not look at cable ratings as much as you do network? Those ratings are really high, not just pretty good, especially for summer for a scripted TV show. It's not really high overall viewers, but it's pushing 3 times the average 18-49 ratings of any show that gets renewed on any of the cable channels. Unless it drops off major, next week, they could do exactly what you said.
The second episode also was higher than the first, which means no one probably tuned out, generally considered a good sign.
