this season is terrible

another nothing episode.

was pretty psyched for this season, figured it was gonna be a big scramble with them about to be caught from like 3 different angles.

instead every storyline has just been put on pause.

At least that Nina subplot is finally over.

It only took them almost 4 full episodes for anything of note to happen. Of course it was the death of an ancillary character that should have been dead 2 seasons ago. I'll admit the "...shortly" and then boom was pretty good.

This show's always had a ton of problems, but it was never dull. This season doesn't have many "problems", but it's exceedingly dull with almost zero dramatic tension. When it comes to stakes, it's like they're playing with play money, while acting like the world could end. Everything is a "threat" and nothing ever happens. Someone had to die for the biological issue to mean anything, but nope. Instead poor traitorous Nina got shot in her medulla oblangata right before someone was going to try to help her. Now it will be time for Oleg to really become an American. Stan Beeman to the rescue!

I was only half-paying attention. Did Oleg's powerful father order Nina's death, or did he just not intervene in time to get her pardoned?

Not sure if we know that yet. Would be pretty cold if he had her killed. My guess is he did exactly that, because Soviets.

And just whack Pastor Tim already, stop dithering around! We've been at a complete standstill so far, let's go.

The implication was that he didn't get to it in time. Of course, he could have thought Oleg was lying to him about coming home, and helped make it happen. We're just getting a motivation for future Oleg, it doesn't really matter what happened in the grand scheme of things to that end.

Doesn't seem to make sense that Oleg's father ordered it. He seemed to have an agreement in place to get what he wanted, his son home. Oleg seemed serious about that with looking his father in the eyes and saying, "Da." So this could only hinder him getting what he wants. But I suppose if he was really cold-hearted he could order her killed and just tell Oleg she has been set up somewhere safe, figuring he will never be able to find out otherwise.

So Oleg is going to turn trait... Blah blah blah. Let's cut to the part where Paige sticks a fork in Pastor Tim's neck.

Great cover story invented by Martha to explain her sneaky behavior.

Oh and we got a sexual content warning for Stan looking at Martha's Kama Sutra???? How about one last view of Nina?

Quite the dangerous pathogen they were handling. Old dude lives and neither of them bothered. Glad they devoted 60 minutes across 3 episodes to that stirring story.

my brother stopped watching this show after the first season

when he asked if its gotten better i was like ya its pretty good. then he asked has anything happened? and i was like well...not really

Lots of acting going on.

And face twitching and guilty looks...and EST.

They finally showed Chekhov's Gun again, but that was it no payoff.

Had not heard that specific term before but makes sense.

Prediction 2. Martha shoots Stan.

I think the initial plan was for the gun to be used for her suicide. Not sure why they've deviated, unless it's longest con of Stan sits on a toilet and realizes the truth.

I like this show but the Nina plot was complete and utter aids and then it ends like that. what a total waste of time

Nina plot is now the Oleg turns traitor plot.

If there's one thing this show loves it's nonsensical long term MacGuffins.

Whatever happened to the mail robot storyline? That was mainly used to get a nice soul searching scene for Elizabeth.

Now that Nina's long term MacGuffin is over, it will (should) just be used for Oleg's future motivations.

The other long term MacGuffin is the Pastor storyline. "Can't" wait for that to payoff.

What in the f*** are these clowns doing? After FX saw the main episode, they must have told them "you put a nonsense sex scene with Keri's butt in it or else!"

They act like they have 10 seasons left when they have however many of these they did. Ratings down to a .25 in the 18-49 demo with 800somethingk viewers. That episode certainly isn't going to add more. It will be interesting to see if this falls below .2 by the end of the season. Jeez.

At least its the greatest show on TV.

I think they have 1 more season left even if it makes zero sense money wise.

Have you seen indications that it's been renewed or is going to? I haven't. I think FX could easily have seen how bad the scripts were a few episodes in and said come on wrap it up. It's like one set up episode after another, the exact reverse of dramatic tension.

There's no disguising the fact that I'm just not feeling it at all, I'm done. Spy family, y'all had a good run gg.

Haven't read anything recently but I think the plan was for 5 seasons. If FX wasn't going to cancel last year why stop now. Give it one final year for the show to finish the way they planned. They don't have a Walking Dead but most of the other stuff does well.
