You're welcome, thanks for participating! I asked last year as well, but there weren't any takers iirc.

I'm located in Denmark, so I unfortunately will be watching this Tuesday as well.

obv point values i just made up and should prob be different
Btw this is currently what we have for our points system. Should we go with this or should it be tweaked a bit?

I think I wouldn't make the differences between stages SO big.

Maybe:
Stage 1 pass = 1 point
Stage 2 pass = 3 points
Stage 3 pass = 5 points
Stage 4 pass = 10 points

Cumulative

?

I propose something like 1 2 4 7(cumulative)

Stage one should be worth one point. Don't think there's any argument about that. Obviously the harder stages should be worth more. Slightly less increase in points between stages this way, so you don't get decimated by someone who has a ton of people making stage 3.

If people don't like that, I'm fine with 1 3 5 10 too. We can always adjust it for next year if we feel something could be better.

Thanks for organizing Thingyman and having that handy spreadsheet.

Good luck gentlemen.

I'd be down with that too.

I'm down for whatever scoring.

Doing my research on these last picks, lol.

Found one crazy value so far. Geoff Lancaster. This dude finished the Houston qualifier last year and was one of the top finishers in qualifying this year. Fell on the walking bar in finals.

Mike Myers I think he might be a rookie, but he narrowly finished behind Elet Hall in the Pittsburgh finals. I'll roll the dice here and hope to get lucky.

I'll go with Justin Gielski for my last pick.

In reality we are lucky if 2 or 3 guys finish stage 2. So any scoring for finishing stage 2 or 3 is fine with me.

Yep.
I do think this season will produce the highest number of stage 2 finishers, but I would be shocked if that was more than 8 total.

From what I've heard, stages 2 and 3 are pretty brutal(as they should be). Am really looking forward to watching.

Printed out the spreadsheet, ready to tally up point totals.

For some reason, I thought it was the finals this week too. Guess we will have to wait. That gives me another week to analyze how random and bad roughly the last half of my picks were.

In the meantime, how many obstacles do you think you personally compete on Ninja Warrior?

I think I could probably do the quintuple steps, albeit with horrible form taking forever to regain my balance after each one. So of the balance obstacles LOOK easy, so those might be possible too(I'm probably deluding myself here). I thought maybe the rope hang, but it would be a miracle land the initial jump and hang on. Once it comes to anything else, I think I'm done, as I have no upper body strength and I haven't weighed less than 195 since high school.

To all those surprised by this week not being Vegas, I guess you missed the part last week where they talked about it being Vegas in two weeks.

I was thinking about that question myself. I have a running joke with my wife that i could just go beast the course with no training whatsoever just because I have such amazing God-given athleticism.

No, but seriously, I am to heavy (6'3" 250) for just about any of the hanging stuff. I've done the warped wall and the salmon ladder though. I could probably do a handful of the obstacles, but probably not in sequence. My arms would just pump out and my grip would go.

I think I could do none of them, except maybe the balance ones and maybe the quintuple steps if I took my sweet time :P

19 year old 125 lbs wrestler me would have a pretty good chance to finish a course.

38 year old aspiring fat guy me thinks he can do it in his mind, but would miserably fail.

I am thinking about doing it in three years, but I need to lose about fifty pounds and put back about thirty as muscle.

Don't read this until you've seen Monday's ep

Nice! Great episode for me.

Kevin Bull
Daniel Gil
Brian Arnold
Brian Wilczewski
Abel Gonzalez
Jo Jo Bynum

All finished, and I even had top 2

And maaaaaan, I also had Paul Kasemir who was soooooo close, what happened there . As far as I could see from what they showed, he and Aaron Himelright were the only two from my team eliminated tonight.

[SPOIL]A pretty good night for you indeed Thingyman. However, not a terrible night for myself.

Geoff Britten(he said he was the most scared of stage 1, and I think he is probably my best chance at victory.

Flip Rodriguez-a solid performance.

Neil Craver-"Crazy" Craver really carving it up out there. Missed his first landing on the rope swing, still had plenty of time to finish. Unsure of how he will do on stage 2+ but I dig his personality.

Ryan Stratis-don't actually remember his run, but he has a good history.

So, onto talking about my disappointments

Gordon White-a guy with great ability, and no sense of the clock. I think he could have easily finished, had he not spent what seemed like half his allotted time looking at the next obstacle. Me shouting "go you moron" in between Topperstix bites seemed to have no effect. Not sure how he missed the last jump(not that it mattered, no time left anyways).

Jesse Graff-in addition to being the most attractive of all my draft picks, I really thought she had great potential. Still do, in fact. If she could have gotten past the warped wall I think she could have finished. Would pick
again.

Sam Sann-going out on the 2nd obstacle? I thought the pick was great value too.

So, if I have done my math correctly, standing are currently
Thingyman 6 points
Melvinvanhorn 4 points
bigtuna 2 points
Sleuss 2 points[SPOIL]

So half the field ran tonight-I assume the other half will run next week, and then the following will be full coverage of stages 2 and 3(and hopefully 4!)

I guess you tune the announcers out because they even said the other half runs next week.

I was shocked by Paul Kasmier, as soon as I saw him going first I knew he was screwed. Looks like the constant training that has been done on the jumping spider has made that a less daunting obstacle.

Thingy, I have Travis Rosen that should be bolded on the spreadsheet.

So many guys to run for me next week. I was 2-2 (How does a guy in a Tarzan suit fail on a swinging obstacle?). 11 more still to run next week. I just hope none are the first one they show.
