Yes this makes the potential for this season huge. 2nd episode was great.

This season almost seems like a counterpoint to S1 and partially to S2, in which we had mostly men driving the story with the women reacting. Here we have one male character who's now a zombie, and a group of women with different motivations all plotting against each other.

Just wow. I've said it many times before, but Jessica Lange pwns.

Emma Roberts doing a stand up job as well. Get the sense everyone on the cast gonna kill it this season in some shape or form.

That sex scene baby making ritual was crazy intense. I think I got a lil chub too... can't be normal.

Lily Rabe sexy as always. Gonna be a fun season with Lange leading the way. The humor between her and Bates was seamless at the end, instant chemistry between those two.

Bassett killin it too. The Bassett, Lange, Bates trifecta is pretty bad ass.

Awesome moment when Lange took he bite of the fried chicken after Bates sob story.

This is gonna be the best season yet. Lange and Bates on the bench talking was just acting gold.

I had a strange set of emotions during that scene where they put Bates into that coffin after showing her what they did to her daughters. I know Bates' character from the little we've seen is a pretty terrible human being but murdering her daughters like that as part of payback? I really wanted the mob to be dealt with at that point more so than I did Bates, actually quite furious by it and bothered. I guess it speaks to how good the show is that it stirred up that kind of emotion in me... thought I'd share.

Try to imagine what it would be like to be buried under ground unable to die for forever. Will make your brain explode. It's one thing to be immortal and still live among the world, underground that's a completely different wow.

Yeah I think the point was the show that Bassett's character is as flawed as the rest, especially with the Minotaur reveal.

Her daughters helped torture the slaves.

But did they really have a choice in the matter? Look at who their mother was. She has man made minotaurs up in the basement and ****, your hand is kind of dealt born into that family.

I don't know it just bugged me, kind of shocked me the way it did at first so strongly. No matter who the person is shouldn't have to see your children die before you, especially in that fashion. Didn't see it as an eye for an eye kind of thing.

I thought it was quite just...quite <monocle>


But yea they needed to give Bates a reason to want revenge and give her a smidge of humanity at the same time.

I didn't have a problem with the way that scene played out.

Bates' char was killing slaves and their family members. They all knew she was doing it(basically in front of them) so they pretty much did the same thing to her before burying her alive.

anyone else take delight in enjoying this show knowing that 99% of the internet TV critics all don't like it? I mean I like reading guys like Sepinwall as much as the next guy, but there's definitely an echo chamber where they all bandwagon the same opinion.

This season is going to be great, digging the fact that it's an almost all-female cast.

I've been surprised at Sepinwall's opinions of the show. He shat all over it in it's first season, and probably hasn't bothered with anything since.

I've only heard of Sepinwall from forums like this but if he doesnt like this show especially the 1st season he's not worthy of being read imo. This show rocks!! Just such a different type of show and keeps on bringing fresh crazies for characters.

I listen to Sepinwall podcast every week but didn't listen when TWD started but he did like the first two episodes so far this season.

Sepinwall is about as close to TV Ebert as there can be. AVClub has some great reviewers as well, but Sepinwall is top notch. Don't agree with all his opinions, but do most.

So he does watch then? Cool. Hopefully he'll like it.

Yea he doesn't like this show but I can understand how it's not for everyone.

IIRC he stopped watching the first season because he didn't like the way Constance treated her daughter.

I find it really hard to believe that a good critic could hate on Season 1. There are plenty of real reasons to hate on Season 2 (I did like it fwiw, but it had major issues), but S1 was fantastic. Did not deserve any hate.


Loving S3 so far, though I was disappointed the season opener was not the main story line. Holy **** that scene was crazy intense. One of the best season openings ever for me.

One complaint I have so far is that I feel like they are trying to add some comedy and I'd really rather they didn't. Maybe it's just to establish the characters.
