Hi all,

I'm looking to play more PLO and rotation games but looking for general strategy advice before diving in.

Most often the game will be 2/3 PLO with a large number of players buying in for 150-250, trying to gambol it up and get lucky.

I understand preflop PLO strategy for online 6max 100+ deep games, but am not sure what adjustments to make for this live environment.

I expect most hands to be 3+ handed and for SPR to be very low.

I imagine we'll want to 3bet significantly less and not isolate terribly wide because of our relatively low fold equity pre-flop.

Any general strat advice for pre-flop and flop play in a very splashy/gambly 2/3 or 5/5 plo which doesn't play particularly deep?

Treat it like a non-zoom PLO2 online table.

Just play a tight preflop strategy so you're taking nutted hands post flop to get yourself into very favourable situations. E.g., play hands that flop nut flush draws, dominating wraps, top sets etc.

In a short stack, loose game it's a lot easier right? Look for hands that tend to have a better chance of making the nuts in a multiway pot.

Not really, nutiness is more important when we are deep. Your play depends of the other players are playing, if no one is folding in frequent rreraise allin pots you can open fold bad rainbow AA and chose good multiway hands.

I thought there was a 43% chance you were joking but I've literally had professional PLO players look me in the eye and tell me shortstacking isn't viable because "you'll only keep getting it in as a few percent favorite"

If you get it in 3-ways, then 43% is like a dream spot is it not?

Yeah, the biggest consideration is to take hands that like small SPR pots, raise it up pre to bloat the pot, and then you can comfortably get it in with the best of it on a lot of boards. So hands like dry Aces and Kings go up in value. Hands that flop dominating wraps also will be very profitable, as dominated draws will be more willing to get it in 50 bb deep than 250 bb deep.

Oh and embrace the variance . As everyone else mentioned, a funny thing happens 3 out of 7 times when you get it in as a 4:3 favorite. You lose. Can easily lose 5 in a row w/out it being remarkable, but you'll wonder where 400 bb went.

What's your definition of hands that flop dominating wraps vis a vis dominated draws for opponents?

Nuttiness is important when we're deep, and also when we're multiway. In this case we're not deep, but we'll be very often multiway.
