Quad Aces Takes down 5K pot in 5/5 PLO Quad Aces Takes down 5K pot in 5/5 PLO

Sick hand I played today in 5/5 PLO. With a $10 button straddle option.
At Graton Casino in Santa Rosa, CA.

I was getting 3 bet by an aggressive player seated 2 to my left, woke up with AA double suited in red. I decided to open strong and hope he 3 bet his button to clear out the other players so I could isolate him and 4 bet.

Aggressive player straddled the button for $10. 4 people limp for $10 in early position, I made it $60 2 from the button.

A fish seated in between us called my $60 raise. Then the aggressive player potted it to $240.

All early limpers folded quickly and I repotted to $720.

Fish to my left thinks for about 20 seconds and says "looks like it's time to gamble and ships all in for $900, an incomplete raise.

Aggressive Button calls, he has about $1000 behind.

I call of course, can't raise.

Then I think for a second while the dealer is pulling in the $2740 in chips, and realize that no matter what pot equity the guy in position flops he is going to ship/bluff. I saw him ship middle pair in a 3 bet pot earlier with one player all in. I realized that there was no flop I could check fold to him and he was likely to ship or call any flops that he hit. Even if it flopped all spades or clubs for example, he was likely to bluff one or two pair and force me to fold my equity.

After 10 seconds of thought my decision seemed fairly straight forward, so instead of seeing the flop I dark potted the flop. I didn't want to get bluffed out of any post flop pot equity by the overly aggressive fish.

The guy to my right laughed and said, "He just dark potted the flop, that is straight gangster."

The flop came, the Ace hits the window. Top set right out of the gate. A 5 9 with 2 spades and one heart. The Aggressive player snap calls my dark all in (probably spades). The turn was the 7 of hearts, I called for a heart on the river. The river was the Ace of clubs. It was like magic. This is why I love poker. For these moments.

Still laughing that I dark potted a PLO flop and made quad aces. Flopped top set in the window, turned the nut heart flush draw, and rivered the Quads. So sick...

Dealer ships the monster 5/5 pot, stacked up to right around 5K.

If anyone loves live PLO as much as I do, but can't stand the smog of LA and Vegas, I definitely recommend Graton's awesome poker room. Great staff, brand new casino, tons of holdem action and PLO runs about 4 days out of the week, usually starts at noon-2 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Located in Santa Rosa just North of San Francisco.

In a side note, the guy to my right was stunned by the hand. He said "It was like you were rewarded for having no fear, you made the gangster decision to fold no flops and were rewarded with quads."

Lol... not sure if positive thinking won me that pot, but I felt it.

Nice hand! Wow, looks like great action were you play. Gangster paradise! Yes, once the SPR is very small, there's literally no flop you can fold, so shipping it blind is fine!

it's a button straddle, the blinds are the EP limpers so their $10 is already accounted for.

Yeah I mean classic aces in PLO spot where the dude has to call your reraise, even if he knows what you have. Then he has to call almost any flop he catches a piece on.

Sick hand, though. Nice pot.

Cool story, read it all

Don't see how dark potting an SPR1 flop with aces is gangster though since you're expected to pot almost literally anything anyhow. And the rare times you won't, it's probably a disaster to dark pot it (A22 flops, quad flops, you know)

People actually fall for it when someone makes a huge committing raise preflop and then donk checks A22 w/ under 1 SPR?

Lol... damn guys, I guess you all have nothing better to do than be cynics and critics on the internet. Enjoy your weird vibes, looks like I won't be posting anymore stories on this lame forum.

Remember guys, it is just a hand of poker. I simply thought it was fun and felt good about it so I shared. Try not to overanalyze something that was merely intended for good humor and to commend the game of poker. I never said my play was great, I merely thought the luck of the hand and how everything went down was awesome so I thought a forum of poker players would enjoy.

This is the last thing I will ever write on this forum, so hope everyone enjoys their boring and nonsensical troll lives. Back to happy vibes, love and kindness for me.

I found myself wondering what the hell goes on in a brain like yours. Did you want everyone to congratulate you and offer you a cup of tea? Your condescending attitude is hilarious though. Tell you mom that was a good tortilla soup she made last night.

you make a garbage post about a standard hand then are amazed people don't think it's the most interesting hand ever and to top it off make it sound like 5k is some huge pot in live 5/5/10 plo.

Yeah so the OP's post belongs in BBV, but he's a new forum member just trying to have a good time playing PLO. The saying, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all, really seems to apply here.
