Utg limp and utg + 2 limp and I raise Qc10cQx8x cut off , limpers call everyone else folds. Flop is 987 two clubs. 270 in The pot and utg player leads Out 200. He is a good very calm reg from what I gather, only played once or twice with him before, but pretty sure he's a tightish internet player playing live to get some of that easy money. Personally I am on the more active side. Utg +2 fold and I call. Turn is the J brick. I pop some champagne inside and bet 600 after he checks. He calls. River is an 8 brick. He bets 1200. I am pretty annoyed. What do you do in this spot here and your thoughts on the hand ?!

Standard spot.
This is 100% dependent on your read of your opponent.
There is no math or outs or anything else you can leverage.

The question you want to ask is, does my opponent has the guts to bluff or semi bluff here?

His ranges are:
Set turned house
Same straight as you running a semi bluff
Flush draw - 2 pairs pure bluffs.

Pick one and do whats appropriate.

a smart opponent is gonna realize based on your line that you can't really be strong on the river here. so if he expects you to fold all non full houses it's a no brainer bet for him. meaning you should probably call.

however, if villain knows that you know this then he will be more value heavy. so it's up to you to decide what villian thinks about you.

My instinct is actually the opposite live. I would tend to agree with you more online.

But, I would say it is true, he does know...

Got love those spots where its good to be OOP. Get to bluff first!

Based on your description of him I feel it's not likely that he led a setish type hand on that board oop on flop.

I think this is a fold. I bet a little less on the turn, because I want to make it cheaper on my bluffs, i.e. when I make the same bet with air or semi-bluff.

Anyway, with 1870 in the pot, this looks like value all the way. Feels like he has 99xx, bet top set on the flop, trying to get value from those who have lower sets, straight draws, etc. He slows down on a bad turn, hoping to pair up.

He's looking for a call. If it's a bluff, it's a very good one.

plz elaborate on raise pot. im not sure i grasp the benefits.

for me this is as some have pointed out very player based.

also, i dont understand how turn and river are considered bricks when they both massively changed the board/your hand.

Pretty sure OP just has poor literature and meant an off suit turn and river, thus not completing the flush draw

in live games its a much harder decision than online imo
i think its pretty close in either direction seeing as youre getting more than 2.5:1
id call it off and take note if he has it.

On a 789 flop, is he betting 2/3 pot with a set? Only if he holds, 99TJ or 88TJ

I think you only lose to those hands.

His turn play is indicative of sets or jack high straight so it tells us less.

Based on this, I think this is a call.

Results? Limping in from EP in a nearly full live game, villain probably has a good amount of JJ, and could be betting flop with JJTx, JJ with clubs, or purely blockers.
