I thought it was just a function of how much money is put in the pot, per person, per hand (regardless of showdown). If thats the case, then higher VPIP would obviously mean more rakeback and mean the changes might infact make someone like Chuck better off. More likely, however, krmont knows what hes talking about and I'm not understanding this correctly.

I also just checked my stats post bf, where I now only play 4-6 tables. Over 140k hands, Im playing 45/33/12.3......at 6max.....heyoo.

Re: ******OFFICIAL STARS REGULARS THREAD******

filter it by number of players...I highly doubt you are playing like that with 6 people. It's a matter of putting lots of money in postflop, which directly relates to more coldcalling, high vpip/low 3bet/high wtsd (aka standard fish tendencies)

Re: ******OFFICIAL STARS REGULARS THREAD******

I can understand most changes. Most are towards a more fair system towards a system where the ones that pay the rake actually also reap the profits. The increase of the cap for 5 max games though??? At midstakes, it is already incredibly difficult to beat the rake...

Can you post your calculations? I made the below post before reading yours or making any calculations as I think being this close to 2012 we might as well just "wait and see" what happens then spend time creating formulas and calculating a speculative change. But if you've already done that then i'm v. curious to see the work.

--- cross posted from SSPLO ---

The changes definitely appear to be on the "moneygrab" side of things but again nobody *really* knows the affect it will have on things until next year. 99% of the complaining and of all posts on the topic (in the Internet Poker) forum are NLHE specific (and even moreso weighted towards low stakes CAP) so it's hard to take the general overall feel as true for PLO.

I think it will affect PLO players differently to NLHE because there is a larger disparity in profitable VPIP/loose styles. In PLO the nits playing 17/10 are going to suffer the worst and it will get less and less bad as the player gets loser. There are some people playing profitable styles with 30%+ VPIPs and if they are the exception to dozens of tighter players sprinkled with a few fish playing looser then they may actually end up noticing an increase. Similarly to the TAGish players around 25/20 who play at tables with 1-2 "nits" and 1-2 looser players, they may not notice as much of a decrease as the NLHE players are alluding that *everyone* will.

Like I said before though only time will tell and it's all speculation at this point.

I'm going to be looking for a tonne of data early next year from PLO players of all stakes and playing all styles to put together some sort of table/database which will give people a rough idea of their VPP earn rate at various stakes with various playing styles. If you're interested in helping out by simply sharing some of your stats (only from play starting in 2012) please PM me or get in touch with me.

Re: ******OFFICIAL STARS REGULARS THREAD******

I thought about it a little bit more and made some rough calculations, krmont22 is right this 3$ 5handed cap and 1.5 3 handed makes a ton of difference!
Nobody will want to start tables now! :/ I will definitely start to avoid 3 handed/5handed games now :/

Would you care to explain how does the change from incremental rounding to round half to even affects us?

Stars just announced that they are canceling the rake changes. WC will remain but the increase in rake at 5h etc are gone and will now remain as is.

Re: ******OFFICIAL STARS REGULARS THREAD******

Lol but they also removed the 4,5% rake decline. This must make things worse for midstakes...
