It better confuse fish because its confusing me.... will be interesting to see if it degenerates to nothing but shallow games like the higher stakes on FTP have
Man I hope not. I am amazed that people thought these switches were a good idea. It is also not really fair to change nlh and plo games in the exact same manner. They are 2 very different beasts that should be dealt with completely separately. I mean, sure, the old regular tables had your mix of 100bb players and short stacks, but also a large amount of strictly recreational players. Now, I just dont know what to expect. Is a recreational player going to choose a 20-50bb table over a 40-100bb table? I know that I am not really capable of playing at a 20-50bb table. The lobby looks so heinous and confusing.
i think the new buyins for plo are beyond terrible. it was perfect the old way. i think now only 20-50 will run and that will be terrible. either have to quit or start playing 18/12 like all you other ****
****ing Stars, thank you for ruining the games. Thank you for thinking NL is the same as PLO. The old system was perfectly fine. Now not only do the shortstackers get 20-50BB, they get to buy in for 40BB in the 100BB games instead of 50BBs.
This is like a shot to the stomach. This change is so unwarranted. I agree that the old set up was damn near perfect. Where did Stars get the idea that the plo games needed to be fixed. This is devastating.
had fun in the 1/2 ante games today but pretty skeptical about it in general, especially given the mess that the lobby is. I liked it at first glance but less sure after thinking about it some. Agree with krmont's adjustments.
Sooner or later people will realize fish will go to short stack tables and just never play you over 100bb unless you both have doubled up from original stacks.
You know what, this is a good change for stars... because the longer fish stay in the game the more hands they get to rake.
Good job guys.
I am hoping it won't filter up to 10/20 and 25/50 games but I have no doubt it will happen since it's already happening on FTP.
GFG
Just a cursory look in stars lobby now, 2/4 20-50bb plrs/flop 41%, 48%, 43%.
40-100bb: 33%, 34%, 23%(wtf), 40%.
And earlier I saw 100~250bb tables in in 25% range.
I don't care how good you are postflop, you can't compensate for fish donating money with subpar hands/play. This is much truer in NLHE but in PLO it's not that much different.
I don't mind playing short. Really not at all. The cap games on FTP has some of the worst players you can imagine. A few years ago, you could play 20/15 (ask Matusow, I started doing it because I found him winning absurd amounts in those games) and rake in a ton of money. Then NLHE grinders found out and made the games nitty. But even now, if you want easy 2 or 3bb/100 at the 25/50 level, CAP PLO could be the easiest game for you to learn.
Low winrate? You bet. But ****, it's easy to do. It only goes to show how bad the players are.
I don't even know what my point is anymore. This is what I know.
THIS IS A ****ING HORRIBLE CHANGE FOR THE PEOPLE THAT STRONGLY PUSHED FOR IT.
On a better note, Hideki Matsui got his standing ovations at Yankees Stadium. It was one of the most touching scenes in sports I've ever seen.
I was even happier he went 0-5. He can hit his homeruns elsewhere.
