this, and just always tell him the rules... a guy like that isn't going to magically become even close to a winning a player after finding out what the rules are but there is definitely a chance that he leaves if he feels confused by the game/software.

Which option is unethical in your opinion:
A: Ignoring him
B: Telling him the rules
Does your opinion change if its HU instead of a full 6 Max?
|
Tell him the current level stakes are glitchy and the site makes "sure" the high stake games run smoothly and ask him to play higher.
If its 6max then challenge him to HU then do what I just said above.

I'd tell the guy the rules no question. Players that awful can't be allowed to leave a site because he thinks the software is bugged.

Re: ******OFFICIAL 2010 STARS REGULARS THREAD******
i'd def tell him and no one at the table should have a legit beef with you, this is different from tapping the tank, it's a matter of fair play - if another player explain to someone how their strategy is wrong you have the right to be pissed, but explaining the rules to someone who is confused is just a courtesy. i wouldn't call not telling him unethical but when he keeps losing pots he thinks he should win he's gonna quit and never come back
i'd draw the line at telling someone who chats about it and keeping quiet if they aren't saying anything to indicate their misunderstanding, even if it's obvious. Like, if someone stacks off on KQJTx with A654 and just reloads and keeps going let it go, but if he says "wtf" say "gotta play two" or something. if he talks back, make a joke about learning that the hard way yourself, etc.

Re: ******OFFICIAL 2010 STARS REGULARS THREAD******
Can we try to consolidate vpp/hand info under the new system in this thread? There's a long one in internet poker but only scattered low stakes plo numbers as far as i can tell. I haven't played a serious session this year and won't till after pca, just hoping some of you sne grinders could throw out some numbers for 2/4-10/20. krmont?

It's very easy to figure out for your own play. Add the "rake" to the report you run. Take that number, multiply by 5.5 and divide by hands played. It's way more important to do your own since it can vary up to like 20pct for certain players. My numbers will pretty much never match the average player's.

you mean in hem or the stars audit thing? wasnt sure if hem rake method was same as stars.
edit - looks like hem has vpp directly as a stat but based on 5x, so easy to adjust it to 5.5. nvm/thx

The HEM rake feature works fine. It just takes total rake/players at table which is exactly how stars calculates VPPs now.

I do not think either of these would be unethical. You are not required to respond to a player in chat. Hell I have chat turned off the vast majority of the time I play.
As for telling him the rules in 6 max. It would probably piss someone off at the table, but I do not think it is unethical at all. The man deserves the right to know the rules of a game at least.

Re: ******OFFICIAL 2010 STARS REGULARS THREAD******
Is it unethical assuming you have seen his chat to intentionally ignore him to take advantage of him? I know at a casino if a player asks for a rule or even what the best hand possible right now is, the dealer answers.

For some yes, for some no. Only you can answer this question.

Re: ******OFFICIAL 2010 STARS REGULARS THREAD******
To be clear, I was in no way being serious with that post above which I thought would be obvious.
I think it is unethical to go out of your way to take advantage of it.
But...I certainly don't think it's the responsibility of his opponents to educate him. I wouldn't fault any player at the table for keeping their mouths shut and I wouldn't look down on it at all.
What about playing a player that you know is drunk? Do the same people quit and let them sober up? Or at least try and talk them out of playing because they've had a few to many?
What about a random billionaire that barely understands NLHE that constantly gets filleted at nosebleeds? Should somone step in and explain certain strategies to him?
I mean I guess I consider those two situations about the same. I don't think I'd be mad at anyone for speaking up and saying something to the player in question. But I really don't think it's a "must" or that you're a low life if you don't.
