I'm pretty certain about price. As far as a piece of software goes it doesn't need to do a whole lot. A $50 an hour coder who knows what they're doing working for 2 weeks full time should get it done no problem. On Elance you can setup the job so they get nothing up front but the entire amount upon completion (when your satisfied) so there's no risk of not getting what you want or the project going over budget. I've had experience building websites and hiring coders to do work in the past so I have a decent idea about this sort of stuff, on a small scale anyway.
I use a very old version of windows (Vista) so would need people who could test it on other versions once the project is delivered namely 7, 8, 8.1 and XP.
I'm sure everyone has seen the videos showing seat scripting software that is available at the moment. This version won't have all the bells and whistles but it will work. In a nutshell it will monitor open tables, when it sees a green, yellow or unmarked player it will take the first available seat to the left of the player or if the table is full put you on the waitlist. It will also make a noise to let you know
The program will maintain a list of all the tables it is monitoring and once you are seated at one you can uncheck it from the list and the program will no longer monitor it.
As far as "speed" goes and who's script clicks the open seat first I think your internet connection and distance from the Pokerstars servers has more to do with it that anything else. On your computers side the less lines of code that have to work before the line that says "click open seat" the better.
It will also only work on Stars.
I will start a new thread if there is enough interest and before the project goes live on Elance will take suggestions / post drafts. The main things with Elance projects is to get everything we want in the software in the project description. That way if there is any dispute we can say "We asked for this and it wasn't delivered". If we need anything added later that wasn't in the original project description it will cost more. As i said I've done this kind of thing before and am on top of it / how Elance works etc.
I think it would be a good idea to do this even if Stars does something to fix the scripting problem. That way no matter what Stars has going forward nobody has any advantage over anybody else.
Edit: If your willing to pitch in $100 and my 2p2 reputation is enough credibility add your name to the list and post in this thread or send me a pm and I'll add it.
I'll start. jimmyhat1000, Pikkesteijn
