still it's stars fault, all they need to do is make a simple rule against it, yet they haven't so far.

Are there any other regs who would be interested in pitching in $$ to get a script built and making it free for everyone? From a programming perspective they are not complicated at all, could get one built for 1-2k.

Idea being not for everyone to have a script but to force Stars to do something since the games will become so horrible they will have no choice? It will also even the playing field for everyone should Stars decide to do nothing even longer.

Edit: I'd be happy to take the project on, find someone on Elance etc. I've used Elance before and am familiar with how it works. I also have a little programming background so can talk to developers beyond "make it do this!". I would also obv pitch in $$ to get it done. $100 from 19 more people and we can get a free script for everyone.

I'm confident Stars will deliver in the end on scripts (inb4 shilling accusations)

Have you seen the Zoo thread and noticed the new anti-script method they rolled out?

In order to be approved for implementation, any proposed measure must meet these criteria:

Preventative, not punitive. We aim for a system that allows us to prevent this activity, as opposed to punishing it after the fact.
Robust. It is simple to develop something that will work if player behaviour and scripts do not change. Any implemented measure should remain effective after players have fully adapted to the new rule set.
Simple. We do not want to unnecessarily complicate the player experience.
Any bias should favour those willing to play. If we have to choose between giving advantage in conditions to two different types of players, we will look to give advantage to those who are playing or genuinely willing to play.
Minimize disruption. Preference will be given to ideas that minimize impact on the existing player experience.

This project will include meetings January 16 and 19, 2015 at the offices of our software developers, in the greater Toronto area. We would like to include at least 2 players in these meetings. Applicants need to be willing to engage in discussions over the next two months, as well as being able to come to Toronto on those dates. If you are interested in participating please send me a direct message here or an email to vipclub@pokerstars.com. Preference will be given to people in relatively close proximity to Toronto, but I will consider all interested parties.

In the meantime, I will continue to review all posts in this thread. I will post ideas for feedback, and will be happy to consider alternative ideas that fit the above criteria.

I thought about this too and it might work. Are you sure about the price? I have no idea about this, just know that the current seat scripts are way more expensive than that. Also I know a few players who feel sort of forced to use a script at higher stakes, but don't like it at all and may be up for this too.

Other practical thing i can think of is people being sceptical of installing the software on their poker computer, but if we do it somewhat publicly with a group of respected players it may not be that big of a deal.

Either way, i'd happily pay $100 or a bit more to try and destroy seating scripts

I'm pretty certain about price. As far as a piece of software goes it doesn't need to do a whole lot. A $50 an hour coder who knows what they're doing working for 2 weeks full time should get it done no problem. On Elance you can setup the job so they get nothing up front but the entire amount upon completion (when your satisfied) so there's no risk of not getting what you want or the project going over budget. I've had experience building websites and hiring coders to do work in the past so I have a decent idea about this sort of stuff, on a small scale anyway.

I use a very old version of windows (Vista) so would need people who could test it on other versions once the project is delivered namely 7, 8, 8.1 and XP.

I'm sure everyone has seen the videos showing seat scripting software that is available at the moment. This version won't have all the bells and whistles but it will work. In a nutshell it will monitor open tables, when it sees a green, yellow or unmarked player it will take the first available seat to the left of the player or if the table is full put you on the waitlist. It will also make a noise to let you know The program will maintain a list of all the tables it is monitoring and once you are seated at one you can uncheck it from the list and the program will no longer monitor it.

As far as "speed" goes and who's script clicks the open seat first I think your internet connection and distance from the Pokerstars servers has more to do with it that anything else. On your computers side the less lines of code that have to work before the line that says "click open seat" the better.

It will also only work on Stars.

I will start a new thread if there is enough interest and before the project goes live on Elance will take suggestions / post drafts. The main things with Elance projects is to get everything we want in the software in the project description. That way if there is any dispute we can say "We asked for this and it wasn't delivered". If we need anything added later that wasn't in the original project description it will cost more. As i said I've done this kind of thing before and am on top of it / how Elance works etc.

I think it would be a good idea to do this even if Stars does something to fix the scripting problem. That way no matter what Stars has going forward nobody has any advantage over anybody else.

Edit: If your willing to pitch in $100 and my 2p2 reputation is enough credibility add your name to the list and post in this thread or send me a pm and I'll add it.

I'll start. jimmyhat1000, Pikkesteijn

This does not seem like a good idea to me. I suppose it could work, but there must be a better solution.

I'm trying to think of a good real world analogy but drawing a blank, but it's basically like the idea of a small % of the population doing something really annoying and detrimental to society that is not yet illegal, and saying the best way to get that activity outlawed is to facilitate and encourage as many people as possible do that thing so the powers-that-be are forced to take notice.

Good post

Fun players must come first, scripts for everyone would only make their experience worse

terrible idea please dont pursue it and think it through once again
better to engage in a rule change forbidding them

and i think ppl who r not constant lobby scanners like i am has a bit too optimistic perception of how it would be "post scripts"

I suggest a "truce":

Wait untill you hear how the January meetings go and what they end up doing as a result before commissioning the script.

No thanks. They've had years enough already

No. If Stars changes the color codes they do however I've told them about this in the past and they have done nothing.
