it wouldnt be connected all the time. almost never. You'd just need one installed incase stars wants to confirm its you playing, then you just switch it on or whatever. It'd be inplay, so you'd get a popup saying 'can you please turn on your webcam to prove its you playing', then once proven, switch it off. Once again, its extremely unlikely you'd ever get asked for this security. Just the fact that stars has the ability to ask for it would be a big deterrent for people to continually multiaccount.

webcam idea seems like one of those thats fine in theory but in practice there would be a bunch of potential issues that would arise - who would view webcams? what would happen if that person left stars and started blackmailing people who want to stay anon for tax/whatever reasons? would video recordings of webcam sessions be retained? if so, privacy issues. if not, how would that be verified? what if unrelated illegal activity was observed? - players doing drugs while playing or something.
tbh it also seems like a situation where the determined multiaccounters would figure out some form of countermeasures, given the money thats on the line. and if word got out to recreational players that stars was going all big brother on some of the people who play there, it might deter them from opening/funding/continuing to use accts.

tbh though i think discussion is kinda moot bc webcam thing would be viewed as an inconvenience/unjustified intrusion by enough people to outweigh those who viewed it positively, and the chinese whispers factor would result in enough recreational/occasional players hearing "stars+webcam" (even if the terms of usage meant they would never be affected by it) and freaking out that overall it would likely lose them a fair amount of business, so its doubtful theyd ever even consider it.

when he says "webcam" it basically means SOME SORT of way to prove it is YOU who is playing. It doesn't mean it has to be a logitech webcam ID 42955 with windows signature or so. IT IS THE RIGHT WAY to make sure there are not 10 guys sitting behind the computer and playing vs a reg given there are so many poker houses now.

When you say fish must use it to, are you being serious? Why must fish use that? Very easy for stars to figure out who is a regular and must use it and leave fish alone.

So some guy HS games run around finds out stars are implementing some kind of additional security procedure for the regs. This guy thinks he's pretty good at poker until he gets no such request to apply this procedure to his acct. he gets pissed, or takes a closer look at his results. That's a good thing?

Stars doesnt care enough. I know of a case, where a TAG/NIT guy took over a LAG account for over 6months in NLHE, after which he got reported as a lot of people saw him play on it.
Stars wrote back the standard we will investigate, but nothing happened. Guy later switched back to old account.
The original owner of the LAG acc that has been taken over was in USA 3months+ after black friday during this period ( enough to look at his FB account) yet he's been on.

There was more than enough evidence and more than enough regs saw him using this account, yet stars didn't respond to the problem in an expected manner

Stars aren't going to request access without your permission, so as mentioned before it would have to be some sort of pop up request that you'd have x amount of time to accept. Would be pretty easy for the 9 other guys to get out of the shot in this time.

I got a better idea than web-cams:

When someone reaches supernova, Stars sends them a fingerprint reader.
It would be needed to use for log-in purposes and may have to use them periodically.
Simple. Just place it next to your mouse, connected to the USB from the comp.

variance:
1. hackers? there's already fingerprint reader for some certain generic laptops. will not be much of a security threat.
2. Stars having a copy of ur fingerprints? Stars already has ****load of your personal info. one more will not be significant.
3. Ppl that travel alot: Develop a fingerprint-reader implemented mouse and sell it for fpp. (Stars is a billion dollar company, will not be a problem)

Quite good for security, but could still be a lot of MA'ing with this (like Insyderrr said with PLO houses)

if a ton of shady stuff isnt happening in the poker houses id be super suprised, everytime someone gets outed as a scumbag/cheater/scammer , its never , wow so suprised he done this , everyone seems to already expect it.

i dont think webcams or fingerprints will solve multi accounting at all , you cant give fingerprints to supernovas, the main edge they gain is the first x amount of hands , after theyve played 70k hands or w/e at highstakes everyones gonna know there game already and if its people account sharing , there mostly gonna be living together so irrelevant anyway

Yea the more I think of it the more difficult it is, but there must be a way. I know Stars can randomly call you on the phone and ask questions, if you are not at the computer but playing this might catch a scumbag once a while.

Today Negreanu was chatting at his 100/200 table asking if anyone knew where Bleznik is and then he said "I heard he moved to Ireland", "Gozobrovo (spelling) might know " M.O.P. (drugsorme on ftp?) had a laugh. I mean COMON?! Even if Daniel already knows that and this ****ing scumbag has been playing a **** ton on that account already and also sometimes is on his own account.

Same thing for pokerparty, I am pretty sure thats ugotabanana and stars does nothing about it, before that he already scammed people for over a mil with his other new account (dont remember its name). Thats the reason I will not touch ipoker ever again, so many regs make new names every week there and then go play the same guys HU.

Poker houses are by far the biggest scam in nowdays online poker, I can't go into detail but its even been on a TV show.

I just assume that anyone at any time can be another player and adjust accordingly.

If you're grinding on the mobile app showing yourself on webcam could be a problem.

I had 1 flopcard face down a week ago, it was pretty funny cause I hit my perceived nutstraight on the turn, but wasn't sure if the board was paired or not.
