Hi folks -
Proximate to some of the discussions I've seen here in the last few days...

I was at the Vic in London a few nights ago. While waiting for my 1/2 PLO game, I was watching the 5/10 game. I was standing behind two guys, both of whom held up their cards in such a way that I got a clear view of their hands. It was eye-opening.

This is a game with the best players in the region (I recognized two faces simply by their presence in every big PLO game I see in the UK/Ireland area). And yet the two guys I was watching had no clue. They were putting big money in on naked gutshots with a flush draw on the board. Calling pot-size bets with 7-high flushes and no redraw. Call flop PSB with a nine-out draw. Call turn PSB with a nine-out draw. Fold river when you miss.

Needless to say, both were getting slaughtered, but both seemed to have an unending supply of purple £1K chips with which to reload.

Obviously, this was unscientific - maybe that one evening was the magical Christmas evening that all the regulars will be talking about for three months - I don't know.

I mean, I've always known that there's no entrance test to get onto a table - you just need the buy-in, but this was one of the more overt demonstrations of that fact I'd ever seen.

Made me wish I had the cash on hand to play in the game, but I wasn't sure whether the presence of those two guys would make up for my being the third-worst player at the table.

Regards, Lee

That's fine.

If you aren't super terrible (like close to their skill) this will make up.

What discussions are these, exactly, and how is the story relevant to them?

I think you need to draw a proverbial picture

I don't really get the point of this story. You witnessed a "highstakes" (it's 5/10 ffs) livegame where some fish were playing. And that was an actual eye-opener?

lol go easy on him guys

maybe was the first time OP witnessed some bad play at the high stakes table and was

But really, you probably just need to make it a bit more clear of what you wanted to discuss.

It looks to be that you wish to talk about the realization that just because the game is higher stakes doesn't mean that players in said game won't be literally giving away money.

This is the first step to becoming a professional bumhunter.....!!!

Don't do it Lee!!

^^^ yup

Or maybe it is to divert attention away from the current several threads of people not happy with the high stakes games at Stars. From the forced Zoom-only, to the inability to fix a filter issue causing the Zoom offering to be put down to 40bb, to the total silence from any PS Rep other than a canned response and then silence again, one example of that lack of PS rep response is how 6-max has now become mostly 4 handed because the Zoom algorithm is crap and even when the are 10+ individuals in pool (plus their multiple entries) it is still mostly 4 handed, but hey who is there from PS to talk about that or other needed fixes at PS, etc.

Fun fun that you share this story with us but completely ignore some very simple questions about Barcelona.

This seems like a more fun game then limit poker.

No idea how this thread relates to the other post in the forum, or what the point is. But its clear that the community want 50bb min tables, a major Sunday PLO MTT, the antirathole measures implemented and the same rake structure in bb/100 as NLHE, source.

Since your in story telling mode, any idea on what the progress is on those things in Pokerstars Lee?

Cheers

Andreas

What Lee is telling us is that we should cashout our Stars roll and jump into those soft cash games.

How are you not fired yet?

I think what lee is saying is the Vic needs to change what is on offer so that bad players will lose prodominatly to the rake and only small attainable edges for the regs. This of course should be done by ignoring what players want and with out regard for what poker is and why the game is popular. The Vic does not owe any of the pros a living.

They should start offering high stakes Candy Crush in the Vic, then the real fun would begin.

Ha, this guy approached me a couple of years ago asking me to make a video series for his site so that he could sell it and give me a cut. What a joke.

I saw this thread and I was immediately confused, so I decided to read it over a couple of times to try to understand what is going on. Here is what I found, please correct me if you think I am wrong:

1) Lee has little social skills, since he doesn't realize posting this thread in this forum will only serve to make him look like a fool. This is very alarming for pokerstars, since he is effectively their PR rep.

2) Tries to relate to pros by stating that he is a player too.

Hint: This would have gone over better if you just lied about getting into the game and made a couple of grands valuebetting the fish. Overt statements of nittiness earn less points than saying nothing in HSPLO social spheres.

3) This has to be one of the more transparent indirect ways of stating the pokerstars thesis (games should have as little attainable edge as possible).

So in light of the previous discussions, Lee here is stating that their position didn't budge an inch, but that he is also a player so we should be compassionate to him nonetheless.
