I hear that webcams are really easy to hack in.

First thing is to make "show folded cards" unavailable. Then multitabling legit players can't share holecards with the occassional "nutblocker shoutout" anymore as nobody remembers mucked hands, at least preflop.

Idea of OP seemed fine, but doesn't solve all problems and creates new ones (fun players being paranoid).

Don't think this idea would go down well with recreational players, it just further detaches online poker from 'real poker'.

Even if the hole cards are shuffled back in the deck, information can still be conveyed to sharing colluders about which cards their opponents don't have.

As for fighting bots or potential colluders, I feel there should be security checks (potentially home visits) which can be authorised if the security team feel the account is suspected of being fraudulent.

The security team probably needs some reorganising as it seems that they are probably not that good at detecting bots...

Stars need to fix this themselves. They need to run analysis programs of their suspect players and take tips from other players noticing anything. There is a number of stuff they could analyze. E.g individual players chat history, is the player constantly running above EV, is the player winning, is the player playing large volumes, and any kind of play specific statistics. If stars isnt running stuff like this they care too little.

Well, Flame, I can tell you that if Stars does have any game protection, it was worthless. I suspect its, like many things, simply another marketing ploy. Realistically, though, the technology now available to the common user will simply run rings around anything Stars could implement. Security is more about public relations than game protection.

No fault of their own. We just live in violent times. I came across a great quote by someone, somewhere:

"We have paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and god-like technology ... it's a fantastically dangerous combination."

All the best,
Flux

Pokerstars would have to manage the deck object in real time to revive dead cards. They could use a random insert to avoid entirely reshuffling the deck but eitherway, more computation per hand = more rake required. There might also be security issues with this.

Could the bot issue not be addressed (at least somewhat) with homegames? You could deny membership to anyone from an eastern bloc country or at least make them jump through extra hoops and monitoring. I dunno, just a thought...
