Villain has been pretty good and been pretty scrappy agro over 40 hands. Probably realizes we are a bit deep here and adjusts his play accordingly.

Maybe call with blockers and fold without? Usually a good baseline strategy in close spots like this.

Wouldn't it go the opposite way? The fact that we have the 986 makes it more likely that he has fd's and j8/QJ stuff right? Also when he has weak 2p on the river, he checks that back at least some of the time. I don't think we ever have a J blocker and still only have the T hi straight.
