my hud stopped working on zoom tables mid session, so after i reinstalled and loaded up a .2/.5 zoom table to see if it was working. anyway i get AA in the bb and get all in, $10.15 in the pot, they raked 40c.. wtf... thats 8bb and almost 4%.

ive never played below .5/1 so just never realised how ridic it was. thought they had capped the rake at smaller stakes when they raised it everywhere else.

the reinstall works for anyone else on pt4 who gets that problem btw

Sad times for the great game of PLO forum

The rake in these live private games is ****ing outrageous

I've literally never played in one of these mythical live private clubs with really high rake. I hear alot of stories about Houston/Austin but I just can't see how it can be beatable when they are dropping that much.

Being as far from a liveplayer as one can be, I've played in a private 2/5/mostly 10 game once where the rake was 10% with a 20 euro cap. I knew I'd only be playing there once so afterwards I asked the host how much they made in rake. To my surprise he actually answered truthfully: about 3 to 5k when the table runs for 10 hours.

tldr: acquire a network of wealthy people and host a pokergame

that's nothing, I often play private game 3-5% rake up to 200 and as long as the game is good (wich will always be with the rake being so high, no whaleS = no game) and they are more then beatable.

You guys get mad at the rake, I get mad/want to shoot myself playing with 7 nits in Vegas rake-almost-free.

20 is beatable in a super soft game, taking uncapped off the table is just too much imo.

Man on the subject of live play in plo, I know we've all seen the sick graphs over many many 10s of 1000s of hands of run good/bad but witnessing it live where bad players can go on these slow motion heaters that last years is just jaw dropping and incredible.

How the hell did I ever get involved in this 4 card monkey game.

That's not that bad if they are giving free food/drinks etc... and the games are really really good.

I think that is what makes PLO such a great game You can run incredibly well in your massive spots over a couple thousand hand sample and not be on the other side of any.

Has the popularity of PLO increased where most of you guys play at online or live?? It seems like it's bigger in private games but I'm not sure for casinos.

Plo is way more popular for medium to HS games in the Midwest and South. There's just too many grinders above 2/5 that make it impossible for the really big whales to book a win.

For online, I noticed a huge drop off in action when 2x when bovada "upgraded" their software and then again when they moved to ignition at 2/4 and 3/6.

There are alot of underground online home games at 5T+ but you gotta know the right people. I hate having that much credit out though.

The advertised rake is nothing compared to what is actually is taken. The dealers are very good a palming chips in the bigger home games.

^^ true that. And they usually know who to target... they have a good idea who's paying attention or not at what they are taking.

Some did when I used to live in Sydney for a bit. Tough to get in to tho and don't run often.

Most live players freak the **** out when it gets to 8 handed so I wouldn't be too optimistic.

My regular game is a 6max 5/10/20 game in Sydney, it's pretty good but sometimes hard to get players.

I play in a private game in Brisbane and almost everyone only wants to play PLO now for the high stakes games.

Rake is high but not ludicrous ($15 cap at 10/20+) and everything is provided.

Anyone playing on the home game type apps that are currently doing the rounds? They've had a fairly significant impact on live 5/5+ games in Melbourne and Sydney. Yet to hear about a major debacle but I'm sure one can be expected eventually.

Don't usually reference HDB but there's an article on there about them and their gaining popularity in China.
