Are we still doing these or should we just switch to never-ending lc thread like they have in hsnl?

February not the nicest month in less you happen to be someplace that's warm all year long or the southern hemisphere, but hope everyone enjoys themselves and has a good month nonetheless. Well, except danfiu, I hope he seat-scripts himself onto a porcupine

Spoiler:
I'm completely joking dan, relax

Expert confirms poker bot is flawed and easily beatable

Quote:
I played 400 hands against Cepheus, a poker-playing computer program developed by scientists at the University of Alberta, and I must admit that I am yet to be fully convinced by the scientists’ claims of its infallibility.
Quote:
At first, I was roundly stuffed by the computer’s non-stop aggression. Any bluffs I made failed miserably. To counteract this, I became more aggressive preflop and stopped bluffing almost entirely. Cepheus’s game did not adapt to my play and it made what I would consider several questionable plays. The program was reluctant to ever give up any sort of hand in a large pot making it easier to get lots of value from moderately weak hands.

I just squeezed out ahead over the 400 hands but the sample is still too small to come to any real conclusion about Cepheus’s claim to be an unbeatable poker program. Perhaps the best way to show off Cepheus would be to issue a challenge over a fixed amount of hands to a world-class professional player like Daniel Negreanu or Phil Ivey. This could create poker’s own version of Deep Blue v Garry Kasparov and would certainly be interesting for poker junkies like myself. I’d probably still take man over machine, though.

The worst part about that idiot's article on the guardian is that people (himself included) are actually taking him seriously.

Poker and economics are the two domains where I see this repeatedly happening (obvious personal bias aside). No one goes up to a chemist and tell him "hey, I think hydrocarbon molecules are bull****". Yet here are people getting published with these kind of "not even wrong" arguments.

Cocaine, pornography and reminiscing over past glories are strict no-nos if you want to be a successful gambler. That said, they’re invaluable if you’re looking to get high, hard or allow yourself a brief respite from your mind-numbingly boring current existence, so to each his own.

Dr. David Greenfield, a director at the Center for Internet Technology Addiction at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, told Vice that watching your favorite porn star plugging various orifices with various cylindrical objects activates the limbic parts of the brain. But this cuts off the brain’s prefrontal cortex, where decisions involving moral choices are made.

Greenfield told the Christian Post that when your prefrontal is disengaged, you “don’t have access or full control over [your] judgment,” causing you to do dumb things, like taking a hit on 19. So as tempting as it is to keep that PornTube browser tab open while you’re gambling online, this would be a good time to zip it. If it helps, use this handy mantra: bank now, spank later.

Just saying, yeah I'm sure the "Christian Post" wasn't searching for any angle on that story in particular

It's an article on the former CEO of Bodog's site. Think it's a composite of articles / studies from that Christian place and also vice.com

Mostly just posted it cause I thought it was funny, but I guess it's somewhat interesting to note they've apparently proved in studies that partaking in other activities that flood your brain w/ dopamine impair your ability to responsibly gamble and how the mind responds to gambling. Of course a lot of that might be that people who use coke regularly are likely to have much poorer impulse control to begin w/.

But think it's something to keep in mind for pro poker player when considering what they're going to do to unwind (ie even you separate the hookers and blow and the cards there will be residual effect on increasing your recklessness)

i don't think i've beaten a single reg at 5/10 hu on stars in the last couple weeks, and im not even sitting the good regs. super disheartening.

also amazing that the ones who quit are always somehow ahead when a new table becomes free or other action starts or whatever bul**** . pissing me off.

even if im the worst hu ever, you'd think 1 match would finish in the green eventually but nope. f hu and f anyone who's good at it.

Lost another propbet and the thing is that I have to get a tattoo on to my shoulder with the words included:Eat, Sleep, Plo. And the rest is up to me. Any suggestions maybe what tattoo I should choose?

Twenty-eight inmates escaped from a Brazilian jail after three women in fantasy police costumes "seduced" prison wardens, it was reported today.

Police found three wardens naked and handcuffed inside the Nova Mutum public jail, near Cuiaba, central Brazil, the morning after the mass break-out.

The women reportedly drugged the prison guards by giving them spiked whisky after convincing them to take part in an orgy, according to investigators.

Inmates then left the prison through the main doors, even taking with them guns and munitions they had taken from prison caches.

Serious advice: I'd prob just get Eat. Sleep. PLO. written as small as possible. Or tattoo something circular that has meaning to you, and have eat sleep plo put in small letters along edge of circle.

Also curious what exactly these prop bets you're losing were, and also why you keep making them when they keep leading to embarrassing and uncomfortable consequences when you lose.

Would you have gotten anything if you won the bet, or were they neg free-roll incentive bounties you put out on yourself to try to stop yourself from doing something you knew you shouldn't do?

You might also consider tatting your fav plo starting hand on your shoulder. I normally think it's lame when people tat a pair of aces or a royal flush or whatever on themselves, but in this case I think it wouldn't be that bad

Edit: can mod delete my dbl post 2 posts above too?

Car people- big mistake to buy an old BMW or not? I'm fiending a convertible lately. Saw this old M3 advertised http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/4890104213.html

Or should I just go for a cheaper 2000 ford mustang.

Thanks

Try to talk yourself out of that crap and tattoo "gg" to your big toe (to where they put that note in the morgue, at least in the tv shows)..

ime beamers are really hit or miss whether you get a good one or not. some will go 250k miles with routine maintenance, others will break down every 5k miles. if he kept all the records for the whole time hes owned it, just take a quick look and see if things are a) steady minimal work b) steady heavy work c) gradually more work, then avoid b and c. you could easily pay more than he's asking to keep a bad one running for one year

german cars are gonna be the worst overall for "ease of ownership" i would think. that said, they are also the best to drive. fun move, fire away; safe move, dont get a bmw.

From all accounts I've heard of people buying old German luxury cars, very bad idea.

Lots of stuff tends to go wrong w/ them, and parts much more expensive than normal cars
