I agree. Check here is good. Bet might work against a knit or dead fisher, but if you're playing a creative/crafty player, better to keep the pot small.
Because if they reraise your bet and you fold, you pretty much give your information away (over pair). By checking, you could be hiding a monster (JJ 10-10), which would scare away any aggressiveness on the river, if they don't have it.
No reason to build the pot with a limited hand. You could very well be ahead assuming villain would raise flop bet with two pair or a set. And if they are on broadway draw, pays you off on the river.
