Stopped playing on Stars in late November with a VPP total of 840k, which is very weird for obvious reasons.

He's a videocoach at CardRunners, and hasn't replied several emails from them since October, also highly uncharacteristic of him

Has anyone heard anything?

I noticed he had stopped playing recently and figured he reached SNE and took a break in Dec/Jan which isn't super uncommon. Finding out he had 840K and didn't reach SNE with a month to go is pretty concerning, hope hes alright.

He was also quite active in the SSplo forums and quite helpful and insightful.
I assumed he just took a break off poker/2+2.
What concerns me is that he didn't reply to people he was engaged by contract (CR).
He doesn't seem to be the kind of person to just vanish without notice. Hope he is alright.

He's listing Dubai as his home city on his vk.com page, so I guess his break from poker is related to Stars' ban of a lot countries with a grey status of poker (edit: including United Arab Emirates).

I had never messaged him there (have just done this), so know nothing else informative about him so far.

I stand corrected as to my word choice - I meant the current city of residence by the 'home city'. We can only guess what has prompted him to quit poker; it seems to me that, last November, he found an even more profitable (or less draining) opportunity in UAE than finishing SNE in Russia.

Also, I'm sorry for not hitting him up earlier - I hadn't read this year's updates of the 2014 goal thread (because I didn't want myself to tilt over my underachievement), have noticed only now that this discussion had started there as offtopic.

Damn... glad he's alive anyways

I had to think about Strassmann when I saw the thread. I also didn't know he was russian but remember reading his interview on nutblocker or so.

But, what would make you go to Dubai when you are almost done reaching SNE and stay there for so long?

i just kinda lost motivation / got really tired of the grind and took an extended vacation.
