5/5/10 Flopped Nuts

Hero BTN $1300
Villain 1 HJ $2500
Villain 2 CO $7000
Villain 3 BB $3000

10 handed

Hero dealt QdJd8c9c

Theres a manadatory straddle of of 20 thats not live

No reads on either player.

HJ makes it 80 to go CO calls, I call and BB calls

Flop $360 ish

KdTh9d

Checked to me and i pot it - BB folds and hj AND Co call.

Turn J h ( Board KdTh9dJh)

Checked to hero (Pot - $1400 ish)

Is a check back fine and see what river brings or is this a simple GII even with a non nut hand with the SPR <1?

Re: 5/5/10 Flopped Nuts

Idk problem with shoving is your hand is totally face up so your opponents can play perfectly against you. I would probably shove but I don't think that is the right play considering the above...

Re: 5/5/10 Flopped Nuts

Not happy about it but I'm shoving given our stack, in practice opponents really shouldn't be checking aq, we might still be getting free-rolled if called but giving away a free card when we have the only straight is so costly

Some habits are hard to kick lol.

Yeah I remember this exact hand because I was at the table, I think I jumped in around like 4am short stacking for a mess around with a friend of mine for a couple hours.

If HJ was deeper, I could maybe understand checking it back ott. But with your stack, HJ's stack and you having diamonds, I can't see us not jamming here.

Re: 5/5/10 Flopped Nuts

I'm jamming that turn. Not thrilled about it but I'm happy to take it down now if they fold. I do expect that I have the best hand with some blockers but not willing to give away a free card. If someone does show up with AQ there's still a chance with diamond draw.

Re: 5/5/10 Flopped Nuts

I jam the turn and both villains have AQ - one with a nut flush draw from memory. Very surprised that both checked the nuts into me. I think I'm always goign borke here given the action nand stack sizes. Would we consider checking back with an SPR > 1? And then dump to any river bet?

Re: 5/5/10 Flopped Nuts

What would you say you 3b here pre vs hj open and co call everyone else reasonably deep???? (Hint this hand should be in that range) otherwise as long as you shoved the turn you played the hand well

Re: 5/5/10 Flopped Nuts

You can def check the turn with AQ diamonds here. Great play by villain. The turn is a disaster. With two players still in the hand and not much room for improvement a check is probably the best play on the turn. The problem is, you don't have the nuts and you're not drawing to the nuts. The question you should be asking is, what are the villains coming with after the flop?... Most likely draws or trips...

The turn card is like having AA in NLH and the flop comes 10-J-Q vs 2 opp. You can jam all day, but most of the outcomes will be negative.

So, lovin the flop, hating the turn and the number of opp. The checks are traps, which are best set on the turn in PLO.

I like to be aggressive, so I would have probably fallen for the traps as well (unless I'm playing tight and/or know opp play). The mid-range connectors can win and lose a lot of money. Have to know your opp ranges and how they play to make a better decision. And have to be cautious of higher draws!

It def makes sense that an opp would have a higher flush draw. That means Ace-x for sure. Multiple players calling a raise preflop would suggest AQ combos are highly likely as well. That should make for an easier check-back on the turn.

Tough place to be. The good news is you look like a player that likes to jam without the nuts. That means you should get calls on some big bets later, if you play it right.

The key here is that you know both opp are capable of checking the nuts on the turn. That does wonders for their game because players will be more cautious on the turn, possibly giving them a free card in future play. Something to consider when having it on the turn/flop.
