Villain is a gambling degen who always button straddles for $15, sometimes utg too, plays PLO decently postflop but loves to basically play any two cards preflop for any raise so when he wins with a bottom %50 hand he can needle the nits endlessly. The game is built around villain with 4 super nits, 1 fish, 2 tags, and im viewed with the widest preflop raising range but still tag.

Hero utg $475
villain sb $600~

I open to $20 with AsJsAh3d, 2 nits call in mp, fish calls in cutoff, villain says "this is a total donation with this hand" and calls in sb.

Flop $100 KsQh4s I tank for 20 sec and bet $75, everyone insta folds, villain insta calls. At this point i put his preflop hand as some garbage two holdem hands and when he calls i figure him for a str8 draw, flush draw, AKxx where xx is cards 8 or lower, or Q4xx.

Turn $250 9h (KsQh4s). Villain quickly checks, I bet pot, villain insta puts me all in, i call the other $125. My thoughts on the turn was villain would def call me with worse flushdraws, with some Kxxx, Ive seen him fold two pair like Q4 or Q9 w/o a redraw but hes def. bad enough to check the nut str8 here too going for the c/r.

Villain doesn't have a large enough bluffing frequency on the river to worry about folding the best hand if AA is good as he'll check down one pair, esp top pair all day and i've rarely seen him turn a busted flush draw into a bluff.

Is it better to check the turn/evaluate river against this type of player and his comment preflop that polarized his range?

I think a turn check here is super standard. Also I'm curious why would you choose to bet pot on the turn? I think checking>smaller bet/calling>potting.

I would definitely bet the turn but more like $150 so that he'll call with the stuff you want him to call.

I check back the turn here most of the time. Also, why did you tank for 20 seconds OTF? Just bet pot...

What hands does he call the flop and turn with? Sets or KQ I assume. He doesnt have a set here bc he bets flop or CR. JT makes the most sense and that got there. I dont mind a bet but when you are betting vs a guy who can CR with the nuts or nothing, its a tough spot when an obvious hand gets there. Vs villians who I find can play the turn tricky in lower-mid stakes, I am checking back turn.

Also, you bet pot which doesnt accomplish anything at all except getting KQ to fold. You beat everyhting else that would have called a smaller bet and you lose to everything that calls a PSB or shoves. The fact that he only had $125 behind makes it easy to call but if you were deep with him, his pot back would mean you have to fold.

Not sure if you thought about stack sizes when you bet.

I'd check the turn here. If bet then bet smaller, 150-170 seems nice, to get called from weak draws. However, when betting and getting checkraised you are in a sad spot most of the time and by checking you got value to catch a riverbluff.
