2,5/2,5 Missed river, what to do 2,5/2,5 Missed river, what to do

Villain was unknown to me and I was unknown to him. Was the start of the session. The game was rather loose. I had folded a couple of hands on flop and showed down one hand where I won the pot with a pair of queens.

Hero is Dealer with €110
Villain is MP3 with €120

Villain limps, hero limps with AQ97
SB checks, BB checks

Flop A105
Villain bets €10, Hero calls, SB fold, BB folds

Turn 3
villain bets €30, hero calls (comment: I called because I felt like he will just bomb the river most of the time, if I hit, I get his stack. If he checks I can decide what to do. I didn't think about shoving the turn at the time (or even now))

River 8
villain bets €60, Hero?

Should one fold or call and why? What does the Villain have/represent? Is it a bluff, and if so, can we beat it? Other comments?

There is a pretty good argument for folding every street

And somehow I managed to come up with solid reasoning to not fold on any of them (not revealing yet what I did on the river though). I will probably refine/change my strategy quite a bit for my next sessions, as I did play rather bad the whole night.

But yea, still, I will get to those spots again for sure, even if I tried to avoid them. Also, was left thinking about basically just this hand from the whole session, so wanted to get some opinions. Yours is probably very correct too

what is this 40bb game?
couldn't resist to pot otb vs any open limping nonsense i guess, overlimping ain´t terrible either but feels worse than potting by quite a margin

flop/turn are good, he´s repping a flush otr, he might be button clicking heavily with a hand that still beats you, pretty tough for him to b/b/b into 3 players on this texture and not have AQ beat, anyway, enough strat, feels like a pretty silly game to play in anyway, why not 2,5/5? or 2/2? or 1/2? or deeper stacks?

Yea I would actually play 1/1 but on Friday/Saturday its all 5/5 and then 2,5/2,5. My BR isn't actually big enough for 2,5/2,5 either but I still play it as the players seem to play really bad. I seem to play worse than them when I play against them though.

People buy in normally for 100-200 on that game, so yea its pretty short.

Thanks for the thoughts. I had a similar trail of thought on the river, it's kinda tempting to call but is a pair of Aces ever good there?

Yea I should just pot it (or fold) preflop next time. Would be a much easier/more straigthforward decision on the flop too.

Next time I will just buy in for much more and play much more TAG. Just somehow the loose games grabs you and you see people call down everything with super weak flushes and 2 pairs and you just want to get in on that action with even the weaker hands. Maybe its just me...

i guess this was played in Casino Helsinki. It doesn't always play shortstacked though. Quite the opposite in many nights. 2.5/2.5 bi is 100€/uncapped.

Yea, in Casino Helsinki. Maybe I just haven't been paying enough attention to how much people buy in for, or the times I've played have just been similar for some reason. I believe you for sure, gotta buy in bigger next time in any case.

Is there actually any 1/1 PLO any evening Puzo or should one just be prepared to see 2,5/2,5 or 5/5 every night (even during the week)?

Are the games there normally as soft as it feels? I mean I got beat really bad for playing so loose and passive (and overall bad, very bad in my opinion) but it has just felt that one could even beat the 2,5/2,5 with a very basic TAG-strategy. Correct me if Im wrong, any tips are very appreciated too.

I think 1/1 runs mostly on tuesdays and wednesdays if at all. Depends a little if there is 1/1 NLHE going on or not and whats the mood of Brass Etc.
Haven't been playing any cash after midnight sun so I don't really know whats the action at the moment.

The level of play varies a lot. Sometimes there are good or really good regs with deep stacks and sometimes there are guys who are wasted and or nearly braindead. It also matters if 5/5 is running or not. Once I had 3 guys who have played in EPT final table playing with me.

One thing is for sure, the games are always loose-very loose esp. preflop. I think most of the times you will be a winning player if you play a solid tag-strategy.

Thanks for the info man. Yea it definitely seems to be heavily divided into those groups you mentioned. I will try to play TAG next time and see how it goes, the looseness was very striking for sure, and I too just went in with the same style even if I was probably supposed to do the opposite

fold the flop, fold the river. even the turn call is slightly suspect. also don't play with such high rake.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I guess I can now reveal what I did:
- I folded on the river. Just didn't think I could even beat most of the bluffs there, IF thats all he had.

Should have folded on the flop yea. Even preflop.

The rake is 5 %, max 10 euros. The max is rather high yes if I've understood correctly the max rake in most casinos.

It sounds like you are saying that the games sound good/easy because you want in. I want to ask what makes them sound good? I'd love to hear the reasoning to that because I am/will be playing there more. I also am not very familiar with how the games of this size are in other casinos. Are they loose, passive, normally multiway even after some action preflop, how's the rake etc?

And IMA, yea that wouuld've most likely worked in this case.
