2/4 3bet pot. Lost on turn

Villain plays 29/25/15,1. Not afraid to go all-in or bluff.

My plan for the flop was to bet fold, what do you think?

Now, on the turn Im kind of lost. His range is probably weak (oesd, bare fd, Jxxx with no connection) and this turn is a complete blank. But, we must risk 430 effectively for a 188 pot, and we won't get it in very well if we bet (but will be pretty much commited).

You can probably bet/call an obviously commiting size too (POT!), and it's probably a lot better in retrospect against his range. You get kind of owned if he's good enough to cc better hands expecting you to double too much tho.

Check for sure against this type of opponent. Would have checked the flop as well. If this guy check/called Jxxx on the flop, it was probably with the intention of shipping the money in on a clean turn and almost certainly not with the intention of folding to a second barrel on the 3 of spades.

Re: 2/4 3bet pot. Lost on turn

Im not so sure about checking the flop. Although the player description is pretty vague, I prefer to check a more polarized range, preferably the better part with a flushdraw. Checking here makes it very hard to win the hand once it drops diamonds, and only AKQ87, maybe T/9, provides a reasonable chance of winning the hand.
Turn is a very obvious check, though.

8 cards i feel comfortable with having hit the river (2x 8, 3x 7, 3x Q)

check the turn and reeval river card/his action

Re: 2/4 3bet pot. Lost on turn

I think that's a pretty good spot to check back the turn. You can rep the flush OTR if it comes and he checks. I don't think betting is terrible, but I'd rather check this hand and bet with hands like a naked 8. Especially if you think he is capable of a c/r in this spot. You also end up in a lot of sticky spots OTR if he calls again.

I am not sure why are people saying the flop check is much better than a cbet. There certainly are opponents against who this is true, but without specific reads I don't think there's anything wrong with a cbet.
