10/20 game on global poker, 4 handed.

Button: 7000 LAG who raised 100 percent of buttons and seems happy to get it in with whatever.
Hero in BB: 475

Hero is dealt: QQK4

Preflop:

Button raises to 70, Hero raises to 220, Button calls.

Flop: A88

Pot is 450, Hero has 255 behind.

Do I give up or push?

My thoughts were that his range was larger enough that he didn't necessarily have to have an ace and that I am representing one since the dynamic was entirely me folding and him betting up until this hand. Also, the pot was twice my stack.

On the other hand he did call a three-bet and I was only in the pot for 220, I don't have to throw another 255 on a flop where I have 2 outs against an ace or an 8.

I've thought about this too much and run into situations like this whenever I step up to a 10/20 game to play short. Thank you.

I don't really play short stack, but I don't see how it can be profitable to put half of your stack in pre flop and then fold. He often has an ace, but not always, and you actually have 4 outs v. an A (8s are outs for you) plus weird runner runner draws. Do you have any running flush draws? That would help too. Seems to me if you ever want to fold here you have to just flat pre.

Jam. You still have 19% if he has an A or 8.

Always jam here. Hopefully you get called by some JJT9 hand. Even if villain has Axxx we still have almost 20% equity (4 outs + backdoor draws).

If he really is opening 100% of buttons then the 3b is good. From a tighter villain I wouldn't 3b with weak qq. But he's hardly ever folding and you're pushing a big range advantage, so you should be able to stick the rest in on pretty much 100% of flops - including this one.

The advantage of playing a short stack is spots like these where you can easily stick the money in and realize your equity.

100 is bad.
Spoiler:
123, 101 or 88 for example are much more beautiful numbers.

Spoiler:
we could also bet 254 and fold to a shove. you know, 4 the lolz.

If you're playing some sort of 20-30bb stack strategy here you should just be shoving 100% of A high boards after 3betting
