1-2 Paired board steal spot?

Effective stacks $1200.

Background info:

V1 is pretty solid, semi-tough quasi-LAG, gambles too much with weak draws. We have history of a number of big pots and big bluffs. He has never accually cought me bluffing big, but he knows I have and am capable of it, and has a tendency to suspect I am bluffing before giving me credibilty for a real hand.

V2 ultra rich omega donk gambleholic

I dont remember the exact preflop details, but im in the sb with 5-7-8-9ds. Straddle is on, first to act V1 makes it $20. Folds to V2 button raise to $40 which is him gambling and not signifying anything nessecarily of real value. I cold call (4bet?), BB folds ; V1 makes it $160 all day (99.99% aces) and we both call. (pot $480)

FLOP 10-3-10 two diamonds ( i hold no diamonds)

Checks around.

TURN 2 spades

I check, V1 bets $100, V2 folds, and I having a fleeting thougt then.......fold

Immediatly after the hand after thinking about it I am besides myself

I guess what I really want to ask is if this is a spot where I should always be checkraising. I reason that if he has a 10 he is probably betting the flop, especially with the flush draw out there. Not only that but hes so unlikely to even have a 10 here if he has to aces ( dont know what the actual number is). Then theres the ultra weak turn bet which screams, 'okay i guess im in the clear let me get a little protection'.

I remember thinking to myself before folding, there was a chance he would think that I am bluffing and would call my checkraise out of suspcion. Then on the river either I would be thinking that my read was off and he does have a 10(since he calls) or if I bomb the river he would look me up since he always assumes im bluffing.

Im trying to plug what I think is a leak in my thinking in this and similar spots. I usually do pull the trigger when I need to but here I didn't when I now believe it was 100% correct to do so. Should or does the inherant probability of him folding to a checkraise here completely supercede and override thoughts like the ones above which would talk me into folding?

To put it another way I want to know if I should disregard these thoughts on the grounds that, even if I am wrong this one time and he has a 10 or he looks me up, I will have made so much money all the times it did work that I shouldnt even consider NOT making this play.

If I could elimiate these doubts based rational thinking I could make these plays with greater confidence in the future

What would you do with 10x here? Not check the flop then check raise the turn. I would think youre fos on this board.

Ok so should we be betting the turn and river 100% of the time then?

no. fold. he wont give up AAxx for one bet. and if he thinks you are bluffing, he will call anyways. he isnt checking back flop with the intention to fold AA. if u bluff, better be prepared to fire two very big bets.

think what papi said makes sense, but u can surely get away with this/do it some of the time on lockdown type boards as long as u dont do it way too much and balance it with your stronger part of your range aswell (ldo)

given your reads villain would probably bet/call turn and call river because he knows that you know he doesn't have trips after his check flop + weak bet on turn, so this type of player is def calling light vs you.
